Just come back from 9gag and the amount of people who don’t know that they/them is a singular pronoun aswell is insane. I mean it’s only been around since the 14th century. I guess it’s easier because “Sie” in Germany is already singular and plural, because it is the neutral form of singular formal. sie is also the plural equivalent of them and it also means she. Makes it a lot easier to get the double meaning of words. Sie means -she -her -you, formal form -they -them Also “Mutter” means both mother and screw nut. “Flügel” are wings and pianos. “Schloss” is castle and lock “Kiefer” is pine and jaw.
