A/N- This was actually the first Marcus Moreno piece I started working on, but I struggled with it so I took a break to write the other one before coming back to it.

The last thing you were expecting on a random Thursday afternoon after a particularly rough shift at work is a call from Marcus asking if you can pick Missy up from school. You agree, hoping he doesn’t pick up on the exhaustion in your voice, the same exhaustion you hear mirrored back to you through the phone receiver when he speaks.

You’ve lived opposite the Moreno’s for a little more than a year now. You had known right from the first day you moved in, when they had shown up on your doorstep with a home-baked pie and introduced themselves, that you were going to like them. What you hadn’t known then was that they would end up playing such a big part in your life… or how your feelings for Marcus would develop.

Things had changed a lot since that first day. Marcus had become one of your closest friends and then of course, you’d had to go and develop feelings for him. You couldn’t pinpoint the exact moment you realized that your feelings for him had started to extend into more than just friendship. It’d snuck up on you until one day you found yourself falling for him and you’d fallen hard.
