This is a solavellan analysis that saddens me a lot.Â
Yeah, I believe he can do it if he must. He's so determined on getting back his people, his kingdom. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Sometimes, I am so hopeless with this relationship but can't stop looking for fantastic fanarts, reading some fanfics and torturing myself.
do you think solas would kill lavellen
this is actually something benefaris and I were discussing this morning. keep in mind, Iâm talking about a romanced lavellan in this case, âcause letâs just go balls to the wall right off the bat.
keeping this in mind:
"He was once [Mythalâs] oldest friend, but she knows in his drive to save the elven people he will kill anyone â even her." (source)
I believe that ultimately, yes, he would kill lavellan.
Iâm honestly a little tired of people saying that solas wouldnât kill a romanced lavellan because it kind of steps on his character a bit â youâve got solas, this powerful old elven being, a rebel god, who sealed away the entirety of the elven pantheon. while his reasons for rebelling are currently unknown in canon, if his friendship with mythal is any indication, one cannot ignore the fact that his relationship with at least some of the creators and forgotten ones were just as deep. even if Iâm wrong and mythal was the only other person fenâharel had that deep affection for, he still sealed her away with the rest of them â mythal, the goddess of love and justice, whose name the elven people invoked when seeking protection.
then he kills her, not because he wants to or even because he thinks she deserves it (in fact, he thinks heâs the one who deserves to die), but because he needs her to. he needs her power since his first plan (giving the orb to corypheus) failed â this is his last resort and he is willing to follow through with it without hesitation. (note that itâs possible mythal is not truly gone but my point still stands)
I see solas/fenâharel kind of as a train without brakes. he has a destination in mind and he will keep going at full speed until he reaches it, mowing down anything in his path.
romanced lavellan is not his weakness, she is a distraction. he even admits to her that indulging in their relationship was selfish, hence why he ends it. additionally, he chooses not to reveal his true identity to her because he would be doing a disservice to himself and, more importantly, his ultimate goal. he urges her to turn her grief into anger, to sharpen it like a knife, because he knows there probably wonât be a happy ending to their â to his story.
is he the kind of person to try his damnedest to avoid a situation where conflict would result in lavellanâs death by his hand? certainly. after all, he wouldnât have even bothered with corypheus knowing the easier solution was to simply kill mythal and take her power.
however, has he ruled out the possibility that such a conflict could come to pass? no.
keep in mind that my point here isnât to try to minimize his relationship with lavellan, because it is extremely important to him, hence why he diverts from his path momentarily to indulge himself in it. though, you do need to remember just how many times he pulled away. had lavellan not pulled him back every time, would the relationship have gone as far as it did (after all, take a look at his response when you end the romance early)?
Iâm rambling at this point. I could ramble about solas for days, honestly.
tl;dr yes, I believe solas/fenâharel, an immortal elven god known for thousands of years for his bold, ambitious, and ruthless nature who also took the life force of the closest friend heâs ever had, would kill lavellan, who he only kind of dated for about a year.
