Respite of summer's heat

The gentle breeze rolling over the fields, through the forest and towns on sage Island since that morning was a wonderful contrast to the recent increasingly hot weather. Nevertheless it wasn't quite enough for most students and after seeing their altered behaviour patterns and a question to someone more knowledgeable about the average human, a suggestion was given by Lilia to our resident dragon fae.

"How about inviting your beloved for some ice cream in the city?" He suggested, which seemed like more than a sound idea to Malleus, who chose to swiftly write them a small invitation, before folding it into a paper dragon and having it fly to them with magic. It read the following:

"My beloved moon-born rose,

Would you honour me with your company to a local frozen treat shop in the afternoon? I wish to spend time with you on this day as summer approaches, so that we may enjoy the splendid weather with one another.

P.s. Lilia has told me humans occasionally sign letters to their beloved with hearts, I am hoping I understood it and that this gesture makes you smile"

What a lovely invitation. He'd gotten far better at writing them since the Halloween incident. Courtesy of the prefect gently teaching him, of course, as well as help from silver, when he did not currently suffer from his narcolepsy or if he wasn't busy with his own classwork and training. No sooner than when school let out however, it was go time.

Malleus waited in front of Sol's classroom, greeting them with a small smile.

"Hello again, my moon-born rose, are you ready to head out? Or did my letter not reach you?" He asked, holding out his arm to escort her. With a firm but gentle grip she took it, nodding along.

"It arrived just fine, the little dragon was a lovely touch. I am ready to head out, I've been looking forward to this since I read the invitation earlier this morning..!"

That was how they found themselves on a quick flight to the city center, on which they may or may not have briefly disturbed an aircraft but clearly the humans and their flying tin-cans were at fault for being in *the* Malleus Draconia's way, as Sebek would probably have put it. Nevertheless they arrived safely at the ice cream parlour that had become quite popular lately. Cater was the one that mentioned it to Lilia but the latter was the one who suggested Malleus went there of all places. It was a lovely little place, a classic ice cream parlour like you imagine it. Luckily it was midweek and relatively early into the lunch rush, which meant there were plenty of nice seats.

The wait time wasn't terrible after ordering, at least it wasn't because Malleus just looked gorgeous because the sunlight was hitting him just right. It was reflecting in his green eyes making them shine more than usual, highlighting the smalles golden specks in them. Even for Malleus though the view was wonderful, oh how he could stare at them all day, Sol truly had his heart. From their black and blue hair to her red eyes, it was all just mesmerising to him, like the glow of a full moon to a werewolf perhaps, changing him, bringing out things kept hidden during the day. He couldn't help but take Sol's hand gently, pressing a small loving kiss to her knuckles.

Shortly thereafter their respective sundaes arrived, something fruity for Malleus and something tropical with lots of coconut for Sol. Perhaps a trip to somehwere with actual coconuts was in order, if Malleus remember the scalding sands hat them. Perhaps he could take them during a festival or harvest season to enjoy the many treats of the agricultural efforts that year.

Conversation flowed so easily between them, the two Fae who let the world pass them by as they enjoyed frozen treats during a wave of heat in the land. Though the heat did not phase them, it was still a more than delightful date. Especially when Malleus had managed to get spoonfed a taste of Sol's own sundae, but only one. In response a strawberry made it's way onto their portion. Back and forth they went, though Sol was more or less giving him the small waffle bits and things like that instead of actually precious parts of their iced treat. Malleus wasn't complaining but it was slightly unfair.

In exchange for that though? She listened to Malleus talk about a specific gargoyle until he was finished, even if there were plenty opportunities to interrupt. The couple wound up finishing their treats and simply walking around for hours, even after the seelie court princess's feet started hurting, because a certain dragon fae insisted that he'd be able to carry them, and he did, so gently and closely to his chest as if they were precious, all the way back to NRC and her room. He I tented to only hug her goodbye for modesty's sake but a chaste kiss quickly convinced him of something else. For a moment he couldn't help but kiss them, not if they had so wholly captured his heart, not if he loved them so dearly. And she loved him right back.
