Solo Rpg - Tumblr Posts
Shameless promotion of my yeti bookmark RPG!
Inspiration came after a trekking , for Itch #bookmarkjam2023

My little ttrpg is disponible, you can find it in itch, merrigol apothecary.
Let me knows if you like it , its my first tabletop playng game
Day one of playing solo Things-From-The-Flood, the kid I have is named Jake, and his younger brother Issac are both from england and just moved into a new town. I'll draw them later, but they seem like they'll make a good duo for this. The way Im playing it, Im basically using my phone to write things down as they happen, maybe playing some music in the background, and just kinda vibing since Im just doing this to pass time on my lunch break at work. No wacky shenanigans yet, but they're about to start exploring the town, so lets see what happens later.
So I just got the Rune RPG thanks to @dragonkid11's new video, and holy crap is it good. I didnt think I'd be a fan of the dice-ai enemies, but make their movements smart, and every fight feels like a puzzle where you just have to dance around the enemies and charge in at just the right moment. I'm only still on the first island, but already my adventure has had me barely scrape through a fight on 1 hp, taking down two big bads at once, finding a key that unlocked a new spell for me in a secret path, and now I think my character is ready.
Celtic Inspired Diviniation
Finally got around to digitising this so I guess I can post it now.
This table basis of my celtic inspired fortune telling system. At the centre of the setting is dualism and that everything has two sides to itself. Nowhere is this more obvious than the nature of trees. Through a series of myths each of the major 15 species of trees have been given definitive sides. From there a divination arose, giving the additional meanings below.

As you can see although the meanings are necessarily direct antagonists they are least pull in different directions. Except Elm. There is a myth around the corruption of Elm and why its standard script from means death.
My script is largely inspired by Ogham and so each tree has a letter associated with it and the name of the letter is the same as the name of the tree. For standard writing you have one version and there is a mirror image of the script. Hence each letter is designed to have no rotational symmetry with its mirror image.

To represent the lack of symmetry in Elm the letter has multiple lines of rotational symmetry with its mirror. To differentiate them in fortune telling some less talented seers mark the mirror side with an extra line. Of course true seers have no need of this.
A divination set is made up of a single flat rod of each species of tree engraved either side.
A typical divination involves drawing three rods and casting them onto the ground and interpreting the results.
Whats next?
I need to solidify the interpretations, very little is set in stone right now.
Well the plan is to produce 15 flat rods that can sit in your hand and be cast. They will be polished and engraved with the correct runes
Although this is going to be used in several systems, my first target is a solo rpg. The intent is that the booklet will be written from the perspective of a previous seer as a sort of guide. I dont know much more than that except that the player will be able to change fate by risking something... The game will probably end when the seer is too disconnected from humanity to care, dead or simply unable to continue. We will see!
Eventually I want to write those myths as a sort of setting but the solo rpg doesnt really need to bound within the setting. You could easily play as an archelogist finding the divination set/book in the modern day, and so that will be on the back burner for now.
Listen, I understand why people don't like solo rpgs and prefer playing with other people online, I get that. But in solo rpgs nobody can stop me from talking to the very dangerous creatures like they're stray cats
Starting Be like a Crow
I will be posting the results here, as the Tale of Jasper, the Lonely Raven

Jasper the Lonely Raven Part Two

At first, Jasper's journey was even easier than he had expected. The very wind itself seemed to conspire with him and he flew faster than he'd ever flown before. Soon, however, an ominous cloud blocked his path. He entered the cloud, prepared for the worst.
Within the cloud were horrors beyond imagining. Lightning and thunder chased Japser in circles. In the corners of his vision, he could see the sad and angry ghosts of birds who had never escape this cloud. He became determined. He would not let this vaporous maze become his tomb.
Suddenly, Jasper burst from the cloud into the clear, gloomy sky beyond. He felt a surge of hope. This was the first real onstacle on his noble quest and he'd handled it readily. He could do this.
Jasper the Lonely Raven Part Three

Soon, Jasper saw another bird flying toward him. It was a jackdaw, whose name turned out to be Frederick. They talked for some time. Frederick had a white raven feather quill that he was eager to trade. Alas, Jasper had nothing to trade. They both went away disappointed.
Jasper the Lonely Raven Part Four

While flying over the lake, Jasper saw a boat far below. Investigating it, he found the boat abandoned. Feeling free to take what he wanted, Jasper searched the boat and dound a strange little burlap bag. He soon discovered that the bag was full of rats' whiskers. Strange, but potentially useful. Jasper grabbed the bag and took flight once again.
Minutes later, Jasper saw another bird un the distance. It turned out to be Frederick, the Jackdaw. This time, Japser had something to trade. They both flee away satisfied with how the trade had gone.
Again, the wind seemed eager to speed Jasper on his journey. Soon, he met an elder Raven named Doctor Bartholomew Pinfearhers who asked for his help. It seemed that the mists were spreading across the land and bringing evil magic with them
Jasper was charged with finding rhe jilted lover in a mist cloaked forest and stealing the magician's rabbit, which was the source of their power.
Jasper the Lonely Raven Part Five

As he flew inward, Jasper considered his next move. Was he to look for the badgers sentimental poison vial or try to stop the jilted lover from completing his dire mission? He was lost in thought when a fierce wind nearly knocked him out of the sky. Lucky as he was to remain in flight, he lost Frederick's gift and the fancy quill went tumbling into the dark, cold waters of the lake. Jasper was struck with regret as the gift from his new friend was lost.
Soon, he encountered a magpie that wanted to help. The bird told him where to find a petrified moth. It was not far. In fact, it was directly in Jasper' path. He landed quickly and found the strange little item.
Jasper the Lonely Raven Part Six

After finding the petrified moth, Jasper searched the jetty for any sign of the villainous Pistachio. He found the white cat gloating over its poisonous prize. With his one good eye . He snuck up as carefully as he could, but the cat's senses were too acute. Battle began, with wounds taken on both sides, until Jasper grabbed his prize and fled.
Before he could make good his escape, Jasper was ambushed by another cat, this one looking for a meal. This cat was as grey as the shadows it had been hiding in. They fought fiercely for a few moments, before the cat fled with a mouthfuls of feathers, leaving behind only the Q key from an old typewriter.
Jasper ate the petrified moth, the strange object making his injuries feel slightly better. Then, he gathered up his Q and his spider venom and took off for home.
