And thank you for this analysis too! I love reading people's thoughts and this is so in depth. Ford's decision really does somehow manage to be both selfless and selfish at the same time. He has the best of intentions and is causing himself a lot of suffering, but he's also putting his family through hell "for their own good" without them having a say in the matter.
