The rain beat down as Monster tried to navigate his way through the dense forest, his deep blue fur getting drenched to the bone. "Great, just what I need..."There was no way he would be able to get to town in this weather, but there didn't seem to be anyplace he could stay and wait out the storm. ...Or he could try going to that spooky old house that's appeared in the distance. "Huh, well that's convenient."
Stepping up the stairs to the grand wooden door, he tried knocking to see if anyone was home. ...Nope, no answer. He tried the door and was surprised when it opened so easily. "Guess the place is abandoned," murmured the little werehog to himself as he cautiously peeked inside and made his way in. Sure the place was spooky, dilapidated and cold, but it beat standing out in the rain. Shaking the rain from his fur, he looked around the new setting and began to explore...
He had been looking around at the house, oblivious to the ghosts that were watching him, more interested in the strange furnishings of the old house: odd paintings that seemed to follow his movements, creepy old lamps- ...Was that a Dreamcast in the corner? Either way, he was looking for a nice comfy spot to crash for the night, when suddenly there was a voice. Well, more like a girlish squeal.
"Huh?" Looking up, he nearly fell backwards at the sight of this glowing ethereal girl looking down at him. Startled but curious, Monster recomposed himself quickly. "Uh, hello..."
[The sound of large feet pounding through the house didn’t go unnoticed by the dead within, but before the mistress could grab her camera her friends stopped her. Both were eager to get back in the game after being away so long, and Gwen had little choice but to send them off with a smile and good luck. And the two left her room them, chest puffed and grins on their faces, ready to take on whoever had opened the door tonight… until they actually saw who it was.
They hadn’t been spotted and they didn’t want to risk it, and both ghosts dashed back to Gwen in a panic. Naturally she asked what was wrong, and they hesitated again—only because they knew what her reaction would be. But she took that for the worst and left the room herself, determined to see what had frightened her friends so.
It was barely a minute when she reached the overlooking hallway, looked down into the foyer, and near shrieked with delight.] You’re back~!
Monster just kind of... stared blankly at the ghost girl as she ranted about him "coming back." I mean, he was pretty sure he hadn't been here before. Then again, he does run past places quickly, so maybe he had been here at one point before? To be honest, he was beginning to doubt himself.
"You... you did?" he asked with hesitation in his voice as he leaned in and squinted at the ghostly figure in front of him, his brow furrowing in concentration as he tried to remember if they had ever met. ...Stacey? Cynthia? Linda? Ulala? He just kept staring and thinking of female names, hoping it might jog his nonexistent memory.
He felt kind of bad as the ghost girl's countenance grew sadder at his lack of remembrance. I mean, she seemed nice enough, and if he really was simply forgetting, well, then he would REALLY feel like a monster for making her worry. Was he supposed to be remembering something? By this time, he was beginning to think he had amnesia or something.
And then the girl started explaining their 'first encounter' with a fairy companion, and scaring them. He thought long and hard, but... He shrugged his big shoulders in defeat. "Sorry, nothing." He then plopped down on a nearby chair and rubbed his temples, all this thinking was giving him a headache. He looked over at the ghost girl and, not wanting to upset her more than he most likely has, asked "Maybe... we can start from the beginning again?"
