i get this but i propose: he looks absolutely stupid and ridiculous and i LOVE IT.

I love and support anyone who considers Bellibolt their new favorite Pokemon but I gotta be honest, I find it the worst aesthetic execution of a pokemon’s concept in multiple generations. The idea is solid but none of the shapes or colors look nice together and it certainly does not resemble a frog. It looks like a plastic toy in a clunky way. The plasma ball stomach even looks really cheap, they couldn’t give it any translucency or anything huh? Also the big eyeballs are fake so the little nostrils are the “real” eyes and while this worked for the Dark Souls and Elden Ring basilisks I find this poor frog’s “real face” relatively off putting

i really could write an essay on how shit is that we’ve completely abandoned the monster-of-the-week episode format even when rebooting shows that relied on it to replace them with grimdark edgy plotlines where nothing feels good or accomplished at the end of the day
