As a Palestinian descendant, I have to remind myself every day of all our Jewish brothers and sisters who support us and defend us around the globe. I have to remind myself of those arrested in Israel for protesting their genocidal government. I have to remind myself that the Jewish people are not the enemy, that they too have a right to decry their persecution and mourn their tragedies.
Because having grown up with unfamiliar family in Palestine, unknown faces and bodies that I'll never meet -- watching the merciless annihilation of a culture I carry within me, witnessing the senseless destruction of thousands of innocent lives as the world looks on, indifferent -- and then hearing the excuses of those behind these decades of oppression, behind this genocide in real time, I struggle to remember.
Every time I see those who were raised to believe themselves victims, see them justify and defend the obliteration of my people under the pretense that they finally have the means to protect themselves, see them turn blind eyes and deaf ears to our cries and our screams and hide behind their self-made walls, see them claim a right and a duty to raze Palestine to the ground, I struggle to remember they are only a loud few.
I struggle every day to remind myself, there is more here than meets the eye. I struggle to extend compassion and nuance to the Jewish people as a whole, remind myself that they are not the enemy, that to lose sight of that is to lose my humanity.
But every day I remind myself, I remind myself, I remind myself.
The logs used to burn the olive groves are trees, too. And they are not responsible for setting the fire.
I'm sorry but if you have ever chanted "Gas the Jews" or even think about it while supporting Palestine, then my friend u are not different than H¡tler
Like no, on one hand u want Palestine people to not suffer and you wish their suffering to end but on other hand u are being antisemitic aswell which is disgusting.
There is big difference in wishing Palestinians freedom and being antisemitic. And I've seen most of u being antisemitic.
If you really want Palestine to have freedom, then first stop being pro war. Second stop harassing every Jewish person u see around u. And third keep Palestine in ur prayers 🙏
