I got bullied for my strabismus in elementary school. I have had "corrective" surgery but it is still kind of there, just not super present
The shame that I've felt over the years is so fucking immense, no kid should have to feel like they're incompetent because of it.
I never had the acceptance that I needed as a child. I never knew what the actual term was until a couple years ago. Kids still are like "hey, didn't you have that weird eye thing?" It still hurts. So, I appreciate all of the acceptance I've seen lately.
