hiii! just finished reading, psych student here, tbh the science was pretty good but not that much is known about aspd but they put down what we know so far, but missed out and got wrong a little too.

Correct : the story about the effects of brain damage is true, happened in the 1800s

Correct : there is a marked deficit in brain activity within the regions mentioned (amygdala especially)

Correct : electrical signals can (and in some labs are) being used to strategically turn off and on areas in the brain. so far only one I can think of is ucla using big outside of brain machinery to mess with language processing

Incorrect : usage of the word sociopath in a medical setting, sociopath is just a rude and informal way of saying anti-social personality disorder

Incorrect : downplaying the role of cognitive empathy in aspd, though in the book the mom directly stated he doesn't have cognitive empathy, aspd (normally) does not affect cognitive empathy

overall they did good with neuroscience and meh with the psychology (still a good book tho)
