Noticed the side eye and dark look Jaylen gives ND-5 here when ND asks for Kay's opinion instead of relying entirely on Jaylen's orders and expertise.
This is definitely the moment he notices that there's something going on between them that he never took into account because it never happened on previous missions, that they would grow so close and attached to each other while working together that his droid's loyalty would be swayed by the rookie scoundrel.
This is the moment he realizes he's losing ND and has to double down on using the restraining bolt to keep his control over him.

i was yelling abt this to some friends
it's so fun to think about how nd resented having to save kay at the start of the game
jaylen has gone through a /looot/ of people during his career
& while some of them /might/ have stood out
i doubt any were ever as lucky & naive & compassionate as kay was
jaylen targets kay /because/ she's inexperienced
/because/ she has no connections in the underworld
because while she shows potential as a business partner
it is oh so easy to tie up that loose end because kay is just stepping into the outlaw life
the fact that nd sees jaylen's recruitment of kay as unwise (& probably challenged him on that)
speaks to how jaylen had no reason to believe kay would ever grow on nd or vice versa
but then “[nd-5]'s become quite the believer in kay vess”; that jaylen's first indication that kay could be a threat if she tried
& i think this scene might be the first time he actually gets to see
that nd is now loyal only to jaylen /only/ because of the restraining bolt
& that is dangerous
