The Concept Of Aging As Hes Technically 23 And Hes Already Having A Midlife Crisis - Tumblr Posts
https://www.tumblr.com/yaolmao/749071570042011648 is there anything specific this comic is about? i dunno, i like it a lot and i want to hear more about your thoughts abt it if you have any
Omg there were a lot thoughts/ideas I was having while drawing the comic, yea
The setting of Chuuya smoking is that he’s sitting in front of a grave. Rimbaud’s grave specifically. I took inspiration of the bsd’s fifteen as Chuuya states he would come visit again/Rimbaud’s last words to Chuuya and went off with these ideas.
Basically this comic is Chuuya reminiscing/visiting one of the people who was genuinely honest with Chuuya and told him one of the sincerest thing he’s ever heard in his whole life and it was to “live.” Does Chuuya believe he deserves to even after all these years? Is something as authentic as living fitting for someone like Chuuya? Did Rimbaud mean that for him? At one hand (quite literally), Chuuya is avoidant about it and smokes to not stress too much about his own existence as he kills his lungs while his other hand just rests on the grass, lacking a glove, completely vulnerable and bare right beside the grave. It might mean Chuuya’s accepted Rimbaud’s words, maybe he’s mocking it, it’s up to interpretation from there.
I wanted to draw something a little somber for Chuuya’s birthday and in general a little ambiguous to really tell what Chuuya’s feeling at that moment. I just knew I wanted his face to be neutral and his hands to look human and beautiful (cause they are, and I wanna hold them) in a warm way.
Sorry for yapping, but thank you sm for asking!!
