I wrote a fic a few years back with a little secret/foreshadowy hint like this and I'm still so proud of it (aka I needed an excuse for a different character and his adopted werewolf daughter not to be present on a specific day - so I'm thinking 'why AREN'T they here' and then absentmindedly reread a part I'd written when lo and behold! I find that I'd already mentioned that the light of the full moon was washing into one character's room that evening Problem IMMEDIATELY solved.
