[ for @infxnatum - Eclipse did offer writing lessons, so.... ]
It had been a few weeks since Blitz last passed by that pretty blue bird, but the guy's offer was still playing in his head. That comment about writing lessons had probably been a jab, and most of Blitz wanted to resent it... but what if it wasn't? What if it was a genuine offer? What if this fucking bird was willing to sit down with him and help him get better at spelling, at writing?
The thought appealed. Not because he wanted to spend time with the guy, Blitz hardly knew him--even if Eclipse was intriguing and had some kind of delightfully spooky vibes--but because the thought of someone wanting to just help? It was so alien that it was fascinating, a thought the imp couldn't put down. He didn't know where to find the man, or even how to get back in contact--chucking that note at him in a diner had been a one-off opportunity--but this was Hell. It was, for all intents and purposes, a small town. Eventually, people always ran back in to each other.
Cheerful after a full day of killing--and very good killing, well done killing, especially an execution that had involved fire--Blitz was walking home, whistling. He felt good in his body, his mind was relatively clear--for him--and all of the grief and turmoil of recent days... well, it wasn't fixed, not really, and it never really would be, his heart was going to stay broken as long as Stolas was gone, but things felt better. Bearable.
So, in a relatively good mood, he immediately perked up when he caught a flash of ocean-y feathers up ahead.
"Hey! Fluffball!" Blitz darted up to the--yes! Fuck yeah, definitely Eclipse. "You heading off somewhere important, or can a guy waylay you for a few fuckin' minutes?"
The immediate flirting caught Blitz off guard. He faltered for a moment, unsure whether or not he'd actually just heard that, but he rallied just as quickly and put a grin on, slipping back into his most comfortable public persona, the shield coming as naturally as it ever had--even if maybe, maybe, it didn't fit quite as well these days.
"Well, guy as handsome as you, I could be persuaded," he practically purred back at the man. "I wanted to talk about something you offered, writing lessons? But I mean, if you have something else in mind that you'd like to hold and a pen just ain't cuttin' it..." Blitz leaned his shoulder against the bird, not quite rubbing against him the way a cat might, but something similar. It was a very brief contact, and then he moved away again, to a more comfortable distance. "Did you mean that? About teaching me to write better? Or were you pointing out how fucking uneducated I am?" He asked it like it was nothing, but deep down, even under his hope, there was an ember of resentment; it was easy for those with privilege and security to look down on those who didn't have enough of either to get the same education they had. If that was what was going on here? Well, Goetia were Goetia, he shouldn't be surprised.
Maybe it would be easier if all the guy had meant was let's get together again under any pretense, I want a quick fuck. It would almost definitely be safer.
Usually these days, he'd send Baron out to do small errands for him. But this was one of his days of full freedom from what one might call work, albeit how leisurely it was, you might not. And thus the Goetia had to go out and about himself. Turning heads left and right, nobility walking amongst the rabble.
That essentially made it Blitz's lucky day. Any other Goetia would never be caught dead in public if they could avoid it. But he enjoyed his time on the streets, these were the people he favored. No pomp, no circumstance...just living 'life' in Hell as best they could. And being as tall as he was, and vibrant as sin itself, he was easy to pick out.
When called out with such a ridiculous name, Eclipse smoothed down his already slick feathers. Being a raven, he wasn't as puffy or fluffy as certain other birds...such as Owls.
"My existence is Important, Blitz, I'm a Goetia....but no, I'm just doing some minor errands since Baron's off today. Though I do have to ask, are these fuckin' minutes or "fuckin" minutes?" He teased playfully.
Fuck. Why was he always so nervous about this guy? Blitz's resentment faded away as this man erased any worries that this was just about class. Eclipse was nice. Genuinely nice. There was a reason people liked him. Shit, Blitz knew a sweet incubus named Yves who was head over heels for the guy, despite having never actually spoken to him... Which, the imp thought with sudden delight, was maybe a situation he could help with.
"You know, maybe in exchange for spelling lessons, I could give you something pretty valuable... like the phone number of a guy who thinks you're the prettiest thing he's ever seen, but he's shy as shit. He's been through rough times recently--I can't say what happened to him, not my story to tell--but apparently he saw you and was like, magical Disney moment, sparkling hearts in the air, absolutely entranced. We talked about you for like an hour at a club recently. I tried getting him to man up and go find you, but he's like, you know. Like I said. Shy as shit. I mean, I'll ask him first, make sure he's cool with it, but like... you've got a secret admirer out there, and he's fuckin' cute.
"How you been, anyway?" He rubbed his face against Eclipse's hand, loving that this guy understood that petting was always a good idea, and felt himself relaxing, his blood pressure just easing off down to a calm, contented place it rarely was.
Beak was curled into a very knowing smirk. Eclipse knew he looked good, and he could see that moment of his tease getting to Blitz. He might be quick to hide it, but he saw right through that mask.
"Oh Blitz, you know you can just call me sexy." Though he did enjoy being called handsome. Resisting the urge to caress the imp's cheek as part of this little play. "Oh yes, that. I've seen how poorly you write. And your texts...from what I know, you grew up in the circus? So it makes sense for you to not have been properly educated."
A wing wrapped around Blitz as he was leaned on, not exactly cuddling, more a sign of comfort. Frowning a bit as he stepped away. "The offer was genuine. That kind of thing isn't a secret, so it's not like I'd be breaking the rules of my house by teaching you. And I have plenty of free time since my shadows do most of my work for me."
He reached out to rest his touch against their chin, smiling down at him. "I'm your friend, and I want to help. Just because I'm a Goetia, doesn't mean I think worse of you because of your upbringing." This coming from a Goetia who's looked down on by the others because of his upbringing.
"If you do well, I'll reward you with that whole...you holding something other than a pen, thing."
