Indulging in one Gabriel machine theory. I hardly dug beyond anything other than the surface though and went with whatever my take on it was.

In my short summary of a theory, Gabriel is also a machine, hence the council's swift resentment towards him the moment he failed. He for one hates that he is partially of metal, more so than flesh and bone and his hatred then extends to all other machines and robots too. That's it.
