I'm sure you probably don't want an explanation on why they are labeled differently but I still feel the need. Most of the labeling comes from a field of study called cryptozoology, which is actually more of a pseudo science but if I remember right you can still get a degree for it. where people study the stories and sightings of the creatures and analyze them in the same way a scientist would a new species. though that usually only goes for the cryptids of the group since they are seen as actual biological specimens, instead of the more plasmodal creatures, eg. ghosts, phantoms, apparitions, or the mechanical which would be UFOs. There may be other categorical naming fields of study for the others in the group but that goes beyond my field of knowledge.

I don’t like the insistence that supernatural phenomena be neatly organized into boxes depending entirely on vibes. I know it’s an instinctive human desire to categorize shit but cmon. The shadow figure you saw in your house is a “ghost” but that flying saucer your uncle saw is a “UFO” and the weird thing your sister caught on a trail cam in the woods is a “cryptid” (and usually they’ll try to break this down further to like genus-level) NO. They are all the same thing. What is that thing? Fuck if I know. But they’re the same.
