WIP INTRO -- Cryptid Falls

Genre: Sci-fi Horror

Setting: London, November 1972 - January 1973

Synopsis: Nadia Kingston is a teen runaway, desperate to get as far away from St. Agnes’ Children’s Home as she possibly can. So when she finds the Grimm Crew, a group of teens her age who describe themselves as “so far outside of it they’re practically not real”, it’s a no brainer. But when that description turns out to be true, Nadia is left with a choice. Live on the streets in fear of someone finding her and sending her back to the Children’s Home, or Join the Unreality. It’s another no brainer.

Vibes: green city lights and tunnels, glowing eyes, the feeling of isolation, the twilight zone, empty movie sets, adrianne lenker’s songs

Characters: Nadia Kingston (narrator, 16) - unknowingly a missing person in manchester, confused Edith Kingsley Stevens (17) - suddenly an investigator into the unreality?!, suspicious Basira Windell (18) - leader of the grimm crew :p, tired Vanessa Jones (16) - the only one who does her job, also confused most times Andre Graham (19) - bro just wants to leave, SICK OF IT !

Excerpt:

The cue ball crashes into black, and Andre’s won again.

“Fuck you.” groans Basira. Andre laughs, looking at me.

“Nadia almost beat me.” He says.

“Nadia doesn’t talk.” Vanessa says harshly, collecting the object balls and placing them back in their respective places so we can play again. “Maybe that’s why she’s so good.”

And all their eyes are on me. I shrug, chalking the tip of my pool stick. “We played pool in the orphanage.”

That’s all that needs to be said. Vanessa removes the triangle and Andre prepares to break the rack. This is how ghost hunters relax.
