Also, when the kids went to their training camp, Bakugou fell asleep on the bus ride there. Completely passed out and had to poked a couple of times to be woken up. This is one of the light novels.

Alright! I know a lot of people headcanon Katsuki as a morning person. Personally I really like this headcanon, however, I prefer to think Katsuki isn’t a morning person at all.

This is a scene from the anime so canonically, Katsuki’s woken up at noon at least once. I know it’s not much but this scene is what makes me believe Katsuki actually likes to sleep in.

Anyway -all reasons aside- Katsuki + sleep headcanons for my soul:

First of all, Katsuki’s one of those people who just sleeps a lot. If he can, he’ll go to bed at nine and wake up at one in the afternoon the next day.

Katsuki’s basically the guy who gets 13 hours of sleep and is still exhausted. (shinso gets 4 and todo gets 8, that just needs to be noted). 

Of course, when all of 1a starts living together in the dorms they eventually learn about this the hard way. I think it’d be kinda funny if nobody’s seen Katsuki in a long long time and everybody slowly starts to lowkey panic. They’ve searched everywhere for Katsuki, the only place he could be is in his room but that’s locked and there wasn’t any answer when Kirishima knocked on the door. They’ve also already tried calling/ texting the guy but he hasn’t answered to that either.

Eventually the class decides to notify Aizawa. They explain that Katsuki’s been missing since last night and someone should’ve seen him by now but he’s just gone. 

What if something happened to him?

Aizawa ends up using his master key to go into Katsuki’s room, the rest of the class are all anxiously standing in the hallway. 

The smell of caramel basically hits Aizawa in the face as he steps inside, it’s dark and the only light provided comes from the open door behind him, plus one tiny slit in the curtains. It’s really quiet in the room at first and Aizawa calls Bakugou’s name whilst his eyes adjust. He hears soft rustling of sheets and a groan before a super raspy, obviously not all caught up voice answers: “Yeah?” It’s so nonchalant and groggy, so unaware of what’s happening that Aizawa instantly realizes that his student was just sleeping. 

So the man just lets out a sigh, whispers a quick “Nothing, never mind.” and leaves.

The class, of course, has mixed feelings of being utterly shook and also kind of pissed, because who the hell sleeps this long??? And so undisturbed?? And also, Katsuki had them all worried and it turns out he was just dozing off!

Secondly, I like to think Katsuki -much like Todoroki- can actually fall asleep anywhere/ anytime. The only condition is that he needs to feel 100% safe. If there’s even a little bit of a threat (like a classmate’s close by who potentially doesn’t like him) he just won’t fall asleep.

Also, I like to think Katsuki has two Sleeping Modes™ , if you will. The first being that you legitimately can’t wake him up unless you get close enough/ you start screaming in his ear. And the second being that he’ll immediately wake up at the slightest sound/ movement/ change in lighting within a 10 meter radius of him. There’s no in between and if he’s in the second Mode, that means he doesn’t feel safe enough for proper sleep and he needs to keep his guard up.

In time, Katsuki manages to warm up to and trust a couple members in 1a enough to actually fall asleep with them in the same room. If Katsuki’s properly fallen asleep near/ with you then that’s how you know he trusts you.

Oh! I should mention that Katsuki moves around a lot in his sleep. I think we all know the dumbass basically turned into a starfish whilst he slept at the training camp so this one’s just canon in my opinion.

Lastly, Katsuki has the ability to just… not sleep. If there’s some kind of attack or mission or even just a nightmare, Katsuki can literally choose the option of not falling asleep. I kinda assume that for his entire time being kidnapped (two days I believe?) Katsuki stayed awake. I don’t think he would’ve allowed himself to be vulnerable like that and I think he’d have enough experience and stubbornness to decide sleep is for the weak. The prerequisite for this is that he will eventually need to make up for the lost hours of sleep though.
