This Turned Into A Long-ass Rant And I Apologize - Tumblr Posts

frrr i just saw a tik tok of people bashing tumblr writers for writing those types of fics and i was like damnnnn y’all are going off and for what 🤨🤨🤨

because even though people are bashing it, i know that they still eat it up!

i don’t consider myself a writer at all, but i’m just gonna say this for the people that are:

if you don’t like the content that you’re consuming, write it yourself or don’t consume it at all!!!

i, for example, was looking for certain types of stories for a certain type of reader, and didn’t find any. instead of coming at people about it, i simply decided to-

1. write out my own thoughts on it

2. decided that, “hey, i guess this isn’t too bad, i’ll just post it for shits and giggles and all that.” 🤔

3. then all of a sudden, “wow, people actually like it!”

now i completely understand that not everyone is hyperfem, or preppy, or even a cheerleader! but x readers aren’t always going to be the exact embodiment of who you are:

in the sense of someone in that comment section saying that x reader’s are supposed to be inclusive, i get that as well.

but i’ve noticed moreso on tumblr than other places, that there are a lot of characterized types of readers!

such as:

bimbo!reader

meangirl!reader

metalhead!reader

cheerleader!reader

etc.

which honestly is considered a warning beforehand, instead of you being halfway into a fic and realizing that the character acts differently from you.

i can only speak for myself, but i personally love reading fics where the reader is different from how i am! like no i’m not a major bitch, no i’m not a bimbo, no i’m not a cheerleader, and no i’m not a metalhead! but i love reading fics like that, because it allows you to use your imagination, and visualize yourself in a different light (but maybe i’m the only one who does that 🧍🏾‍♀️)

in the sense that some people in the comments were talking about, of how the reader will be given, physical characteristics or be labeled as a: henderson! reader or harrington! reader, hence alluding that the reader would be white, is completely understandable!

part of the reason i didn’t even want to start making my own work is because of people possibly not liking it, or even not feeling comfortable reading it! so after i originally wrote my eddie x platonic!sev!reader fic, and decided to post it, i decided that i wanted anybody to be able read it and feel included. (at least as included as you can feel, when reading a story about a little girl with superpowers 😭)

because (in a joking sense) i’ll be damned if one of my works were to be used on tik tok as an example of something that people don’t like 😭 the way i would delete it so fast is literally insane! (y’all would think i was a figment of your imaginations becauseee no.)

anyways, i’m just saying that there are other ways to get what you want instead of just shitting on people’s (and might i add, good!) writing, specifically on tumblr.

- send requests!

- actually look for the types of fics you want to read

because in reference to the tik tok that i was talking about, a lot of people’s main issue was the lack of metalhead!reader’s and an over abundance of preppy ones when i think i’ve indulged in more alternative ones where the reader isn’t even in any specific social group, or even with them just being in the hellfire club.

and no, i honestly really don’t think the situation is that serious!

(but i have a tendency of not knowing how to express how i feel through text, which accidentally leads to rambling, hence the emojis i use to lighten the mood 😭)

but the way they were going off in the comment section really just made me :(( for some writers because, damn!

you can tell when people work hard on a fic, and honestly those writers much are stronger than me, because with how petty i am, i’d probably end up being like-

“well, since you guys hated it so much, now nobody’s reading it 😽”

i dunno who needs to hear this but if you’re tired of reading eddie x hyper fem!reader/eddie x cheerleader!reader fics…go write your own fics!! eddie x whoever-whatever. if you don’t like what you’re reading, exit out the fic or just simply make your own. how many times do we need to have this discussion?? i hate repeating myself, it’s getting ANNOYING.
