Being the only girl in a group of friends was exhausting, especially when not only were you friends but worked together as well. It didn't leave many hours to herself to make other friends either. That was why she was so happy whenever Throne had a break on tour, not only did she get to see Vince, but Lettie. Having another girl to talk to and be around with was such a heaven-sent. Especially one that knew the people she was talking about.

So now that Scarlet was spending more time at home, she couldn't help but try to be around the two whenever she could. As they sat at the kitchen table she couldn't help but smile at the Scarlet as she fed Rosie in her high chair. ❝ She's looking more like you every day. You know I overheard Mason talking about babies with Zander. I think you've given them baby fever. ❞

❝ The absolute cutest! ❞ Sam said in baby talk more towards Rosie than Scarlet, in agreement. Sam hadn't spent a lot of time around babies but wanted a family like hers one day. Seeing Rosie and Lettie more often these days, she understood why her friends were talking about having one of their own.

❝ I think so too. They make a great team as much as they leave to tease each other during games. They're solid. ❞ At the thought babies with binkies in their mouths making maps for campaigns made her laugh. ❝ Can you imagine, with Zander's chaos and Mason's seriousness! When my mom was still around she would make us costumes and go to comic con together. Like once I was a little darlek, she was a companion and my dad was the doctor. So that sounds rather cute of them if they take up after their dads. I wouldn't put it past it, if your guys are birthing the next generation of Nerd Squad. Imagine your kids all coming together to take over? Or do you think Rosie will take up after Adan and love making food? Or you and your love for music? Or rather, I should ask, what do you hope for her? ❞

No one knew the struggle of being the only girl in a group of guys more than Scarlet. so anytime with Sam was more than welcomed. And now they had Rosie to join in their girls days, and girl talks. "Well I don't blame them. look how cute she is." Scarlet said getting a little giggle out of Rosie, before handing her her bottle and putting the purees far away from Rosie. she didn't need to make that mistake again right after she gave her a bath.

"i think Zander and Mason would be great dads" she smiled. "though those kids will be making DnD maps before they could talk." she teased.

❝ Like they're not enough trouble as it is? ❞ Sam laughed. It seemed like yesterday that they all had met and now here they were years later, getting married, and having babies. Except her. Sam had always wanted a family but she wasn't one to rush things. She would wait. Like Sophie for Howl and Howl had done for Sophie in Howls Moving Castle. Her Howl would find her. For now she would enjoy spoiling little Rosie and any other babies that would come around.

❝ Imagine, us teaching them how to annoy their DM, he way we annoy Mason. ❞ A small sigh at the happy thought. ❝ Whatever they all choose to do, I hope that they're all friends the way we are now. Us, the old farts in the kitchen, them in the yard or in the living room playing games, gossiping, catching up. ❞

At the mention of Vince, she couldn't help but frown. ❝ We're okay, but that feels like a weird question to ask about baby fever seeing as we're both single. Unless you know something I don't know. Do you have someone you want me to date? ❞ It seemed lately everyone wanted to set her up on dates these days.

"Zander's chaos and Mason's seriousness. sounds like trouble waiting to happen." she laughed, handing her daughter her teether seeing her begin to get fussy. "I know, your teeth are coming in. it's so hard being a baby. but you're gonna eat yummy food soon." she cooed. watching her daughter chew on her little concha teether.

"aw the next Generation of Nerd Squad." just the thought of their kids all being friends was adorable. "I just want her happy, if that means cooking, making music, working for nerd squad or something else. i dont care as long as she's happy."

"So Zander and Mason have baby fever. what about you. how are you and vince doing?" scarlet asked

❝ Thanks! No, don't cry! ❞ She laughed after she twirled in the latest costume that she had made for her character to wear for their session that night. This time she was a rogue, having always played the cleric and the occasional druid on one-shot side campaigns, she was having fun with her new character. ❝ You don't think the pants or too tight? Or is the cape too much? ❞

Beaming at his agreement, she agreed to his terms.❝ You got yourself a deal, Vincey. ❞ There were still times where she felt unsure about their friendship. What was right to say or do, when they had once dated. There was even the fight that had split everyone up into sides that she thought none of them would ever recover from.

But it was moments like this that made her feel happy that they had finally reached a good place. A place where they could rebuild that friendship that they once had. ❝ As long as it's not pizza. But you also have to do some of the photo ops with me! Has there been someone you've been dying to meet? I can make sure we get passes for those. I just want to meet Elijah Wood this time, then I'll have met the entire fellowship! ❞

He didn't need much convincing. He'd do anything for her, but he couldn't let her know that. Though everyone around them would probably say that it was obvious how much he would do for her.

From that first day at that convention holding all her props and bags of merch she bought from various stands. "Okay I'll go. But only if you also agree to by lunch." He smiled. He just wanted to make her happy.

Even though they broke up, that's all he wanted. To see her laugh and smile. This just friends thing was much harder than he thought it would be.

"But thats different, Let's. And you know it" Sam loved to cosplay when it came to cons but when it came to the NerdSquad streams, it was a different beast. Last time they had done an in costume session of their campaign, she remembered people commenting that it seemed like she was 'doing too much.'

"When you're on stage, you're performing and putting on a damn good show and being sexy." Sighing she looked in the mirror again. "I just don't want people thinking that I'm trying to be something I'm not or wanting more attention or something." Those words had seemed to hurt more than she let on.

"you've seen what I wear on stage right? I am the last person to tell someone if their pants or outfit are too tight." She replied. "I love it. The cape wraps up the outfit perfectly.

While they all had their session zero she really couldn't wait to see what everyone did with their characters. This time she went with a druid instead of a ranger.

Sam's eyes shifted from Rosie to her friend across from her. "Why do does that feel like a lie to me?" But she had a smile on her face, she knew that Vincent was her best friend, they had known each other for years. So she just chalked it up to her making sure that things were okay.

"We're good. We accepted that the dating thing didn't work and the resentment thing didn't work. Had a good talk as adults and we're good now. We were friends before and we're friends now. And I like it that way." Did it still hurt sometimes? Of course, it did. "But I didn't like it when no one was talking to each other because of us and I'd rather push my feelings away and be friends than ruin what we all have."

"i hope they're all friends too." She had known Zander, Vincent and Adan all her life. it was crazy how they went from dreaming and talking about how their future and dreams to actually living them. Rosie even had her name way before she was born.

Scarlet paused for a moment. she did know something Sam didn't know, and that was Vincent's plans. "Just a question." she replied. now she knew why Vince was the last to tell her, she was bad at keeping secrets from Sam.

"I guess I'm just curious where you two are at." she admitted. "that's all."

Sam was so happy to be have Scarlet to things over with. As much as she loved Mason and AJ sometimes she felt like they only said what she needed to hear to help her through it. Scarlet she counted to tell it like it was. Even though she had been doing this for years now, sometimes the comments, especially the loudest ones, affected her from time to time. " I trust you." She took the cape off and sat next to her.

"Thanks 'Lets. " Resting her head on her friend's shoulder, she smiled. " Did you need me to help you with yours? We should totally outdo the boys this time! Mason went all out last time."

“yeah, you only want attention, and im only here to flirt with guys who arent my husband. we also hate each other. Fenris is only here because dnd is cool now. Zander fakes his rolls and tries too hard to be funny, and Vincent brings nothing to the table and is boring. Mason is too serious of a DM,” she replied sarcastically. they all seen the hate comments they've gotten. “They’re gonna talk shit, don’t pay attention to them. You don’t do too much, people are just never happy, they just want reasons to complain.”

“I'm not going to say not to read the comments, cause that’s just going to make you want to read them more. But we’ve been doing this for a long time. you're not being something you're not you're being you. there is nothing wrong with that. You love to cosplay so cosplay."

"Everyone has something unfinished! Just accept it and move on." Out of all the places on earth she could be followed by an unrest spirit, it had to be in her home. For a moment she had considered his proposal, the want to be alone in her own home was beginning to sound wonderful.

"How do I know that you'll keep your word and leave me alone once we do this?"

Wolfgang has no clue why out of everyone else on earth only this stubborn homebody was the one who could see him. he had already asked her to help him, but he was quickly turned down. "Do you just not want to help me cause you're gonna miss me when I'm gone?" he asked sarcastically,

"I don't think something is unfinished, I know something is unfinished!" this was frustrating for them both, he just wanted to check on his sisters and brother. Then there was his angel. he just wanted to know the ones he loved most were okay. "I'll leave you alone once you help me."

Sam weighed her choices. There didn't seem to be in influx of spirits hanging around, just him. If she helped him maybe his unfinished business would help him cross over. She'd finally have her home to herself again. Perhaps this could be a trap. But who would want to lure her to a trap? Her abilities were useless.

The thought of being able to spend her days training her, what she considered, better affinity, her green thumb sounded amazing. "Fine," she relucted. "Just give me a day to prepare. Where are we going so I know what to pack. "

"because why would i stay with you when i could be by their sides again." it was a simple answer. he'd rather see Scarlet fall in love again and follow her around knowing she wont be able to see him. he'd rather be in fawns sewing room, watching her make dresses and other clothes. he'd rather be in Axel's office watching him work on his next book. he'd rather be with Roxie watching her music career thrive. "Why would stay with you when i can be with my family." even if they couldn't see him. even so he thinks he would be okay just making sure they were all okay.

"Not at all!" Sam chimed in immediately. Huge smile on her face as reached out for her friens right hand and taking it into both of hers. "Even though you guys are doing it for the second time, its still exciting! Nerves are bound to happen."

It had taken a bit of work but Alejandra had come around. Become Scarlet's biggest champion and she was excited that her cousin had proposed to her again. Taking Scarlet's other hand, she added. "Sam's right. You guys are older now, different people. Even though you guys have known each other since kindergarten, and been married before, this is still a new beginning. It's natural to be nervous. Now come on, lets see you in some of these dresses!"

Scarlet looked at the wedding dressed that were on the sales floor, waiting for the others as well as for her appointment to begin. While this wasn't the first time she was getting married it was the first time being in a bridal shop. Last time she found her dress at a thrift store. “Is it weird that i'm nervous?” she asked. Not about the marriage. If anything marrying Adan was the only thing she was 100% sure of.

Sam was ecstatic that the band was in town with Comic-Con just around the corner she knew the one person that she could count on to help her win the couples costume contest. "Zander!" She opened her front door and pulled her friend in. "It's great to see you! You're still the same measurements right?" The words came out in flurry as she walked a circle around him. "There's a couples contest that I know we can for sure win! What do you say? I was thinking we either do Leon and Ashley from Resident Evil. Or Sophie and Howl from Howl's Moving Castle. Or Captain America and Black Widow! Which would you rather do?"

Sam looked at him from where she stood with her hands on her hips and a small amused smile on her face. "No," she laughed. "No you need food in you know." At his comment, she rolled her eyes. "You say that to everyone." Turning away she began to make her way towards the kitchen she knew almost as well as she knew her own. Calling over her shoulder, she added. "And I'm making these because I'm also hungry not because you said you missed me."

It was a lie, as much as she wanted to say that she was over Battle, her foolish little heart still loved him. Pieces of her heart still belonged to him and she would continue to take care of him when no one else did because that was just who she was. As she began to take things out of the fridge to make their omelettes she also found some ham. Giving it a sniff to make sure that it was still fresh and okay to eat she called out. "There's also some ham. Want me to mix some in in your omelet?"

Finding the pan and turning the burners on as she began to whisk the eggs in a bowl, her curiosity got the best of her. "So how did you end up like this? A date or a party?"

he tried to hide the grin that spread across his lips as she finally agreed. he didn't want to fuck it up, to send her flying out the door with a slam like she had so many times before. "i'm not sure, you can look around." he shrugged, indicating to the kitchen he barely used - battle was by no means a cook. "i could also uber eats us anything your heart desires! it's not problem." he nodded, moving to flop back on the couch because for some reason the floor was starting to move under him.

pausing, he peaked back up. "if i have eggs and cheese you do make the best omelets." he admitted with a cheeky smile. and it was true, sam had a magic to her, everything she made or touched was instantly better, battle included. "i've missed them." @4fter-hours

"Remake," she automatically replied as she pouted a bit. "I have some clothes that I can alter and good to go, but you would need one of those tight under armor shirts. And I'd have to find a wig to style just right for Leon's hair." At his question, she laughed. "All three. But the costume contest I'm aiming to win is on Sunday. Come on." Sam took Zanders hand into hers and lead him to her extra bedroom which was her costume studio.

The sewing machine on a table against the wall with the window that faced outside, fabric, old cosplays, and everything else anyone could need was neatly all over the room. "I knew I could count on you to help me win. How was the tour? How's everyone?"

Zander blinked in surprise when Sam pulled him in as soon as she opened the door. "I should be the same measurements, why?" though he quickly got his answer. oh he knew they could win "with Leon and Ashley are we doing remake or original." then again Howl and Sophie was always a good choice. so was captain America and black widow. "Which days are you planning on going?" who said they couldnt do all three? they'll just need to pick one for the contest.

"And I got you!" Sam smiled. She saw reason behind what Scarlet was saying. They all had been friends for years, grown up together. Fuck what everyone else said, she would trust her friend.

At the sound of competitiveness coming from Scarlet, she knew what this was becoming. Her smile grew wide, as she took the cape off her shoulders. The dare in high school coming back to her, Scarlet joining the cheer squad and all of them showing up to every damn pep rally to annoy everyone with their support of her. "What are you thinking?" A hint of mischief was already in the tone of her voice. "I have the next two days off, I can make you something." Her fingers itched to get back to the sewing room and make something to blow everyone out the water with what Scarlet would show up in.

She smiled as sam rest her head on her shoulder. The two had become close throughout the years. "I got you. No matter what."

"yes! have you seen Zander's mask! i cant be out done. i'm supposed to be the hot one." she joked, Zander and Sams cosplays were always so amazing. "We can't let the boys beat us this time. Mason and Zan are probably helping Vince AJ and fenris. We have to be better than them." She said her competitiveness coming out.

Sam hated thinking about the time that it felt like their friend group would be split for good. They had grown up together, been there for each other through good and bad times that no one else knew about but each other. The thought of them never being friends again hurt her in more ways than she thought. But she was glad that they all seemed to be able to work it all out, they were after all the keeper of each others pasts and the champions of each others futures.

Because they had been friends for so long, she also noticed how Scarlet said that. Eyes shifted from her niece to her best friend. "For the sake of not yelling in front of the little one, I'm going to let it go. But why does it feel like you're not telling me something?"

Scarlet didn't really like thinking about when all of their friends were picking sides. It didn't help that Zander and Mason were also going through some things. She was just glad that everything was more or less back to normal.

"well what ever you do I'm in your corner." Especially since Vincent has plans on asking her out again. "Isn't that right Rosie " she cooed to her daughter.

Alejandra and Sam hugged her again, they both knew how much this all meant. Scarlet and Adan had found their way back to each other again They all had gone through trials and tribulations the last year and this was the sign of it all coming to a good point. Finally healing. Coming back together to be a family once again.

Pulling apart, Alejandra added. "How about we all try on a dress or to help you feel less nervous?"

Sam smiled and nodded her head adding. "We can pretend we're just planning our dream weddings or something. Dress up!"

How was it that scarlet could sing in front of thousands, sold out tours, photoshoots and interviews. None of that made her nervous anymore. But the thought of Adan seeing her in a real wedding dress, made her nervous.

She looked at both girls, smiling and nodding. She was grateful for them both. Sam and her had bonded the moment they met, since they were the only girls in their nerd/throne friend group. and Alendra while she didnt want to admit it, she kept her grounded. never taking any of her bullshit.

"Right dresses." she laughed, preventing herself from getting emotional.

"Fenris ? THE Fenris Kang? You want me to believe that you knew Fenris Kang while you were alive?" She knew this was too good to be true. "Look, there is no way I would be able to get close to him without being tackled or being called some crazed fan. How do I even know that you really knew him at all?"

It wasn't often but her grandmother had told her of a couple of spirits who came to her with unfinished business that usually was meeting a celebrity. "I'm not agreeing to this if this is what you need. You have prove to me somehow that you knew him or I'm out." Leaving the safety of her cottage for someone who might have been delusional in life and carried it over into the afterlife.

"Yes!" Wolf threw his hands up in victory. though he quickly dropped them when he had to figure out where to go. his home town, he can probably have Sam ask his parents where the others were. or if Jumin is in town again it would make everything so much easier.

But what were the chances His older brother would be back home visiting. He could just have her go home but he didn't want Sam to get confused as a insane fan. "You know Fenris Kang?" he asked. Fenris was well known in both of the supernatural and human world. a Shadow demon prince in one world. and actor in another. "We find him first. if anyone will believe you can see me it's him, he'll take us to the others."

Sam could tell by now that Scarlet was using her niece as an excuse to change the conversation. But it was an excuse she would take gladly. She loved the girl. The first baby in the friend group. "She'll warm up to the veggies soon enough, I'm sure Adan will think of a way to hide it in her food or make it fun for her." She had not doubt about that, her friends husband and his cousin were the best cooks she knew. Her dad frequented their food truck often. "And don't think that I can't tell your pretending that you know something I don't. I've known you far too long 'Let's."

Taking a strawberry puree, she began to feed the girl who began to wiggle in her high chair excitedly. "Are you excited for this Friday? Mason said there was something happening. Is that what you know that I don't?"

"do you want to feed Rosie a snack." Scarlet asked as she got up from her chair. Whenever she was caught or in trouble the best solution was always distraction. "Adan has been introducing her to all kinds of fruits and veggies. So far she loves mango and strawberry. And hates every vegetable Adan has given her." Though disliking something didn't stop Rosie from eating it. She just made a lot of faces while eating.

While not completely healed from everything she and Battle once were, Sam was finally moving on. Going on dates and leaving behind the hurt, perhaps finally thinking about possibly letting herself love someone again. It was a little hard to keep things from Battle since they still had a lot of the same friends, which of course, nothing could ever be a secret in a friend group but she had come to accept that word about her dating again would reach him eventually or that they would run into him when out on a date. It was a fact, a bridge that she would cross when it came but for now, she was beginning to feel happy again.

So when they were invited to a mutual friends party, they had every intension to say hi to some people and spend some time before heading out and having dinner together. It made her feel nice, Robbie made her feel wanted and cared for. It made her sad that it was what she always need and had wished Battle would give her when they were together but now she knew she needed to find someone to give her what she needed, not beg it from someone else. They were making their rounds of goodbyes to people to get to the reservations Robbie made for them when she found herself in front of Battle.

A small part of her wanted to reach out and hug him but she knew better. Willing her arms to stay at her sides, she nodded at him. "Hey Battle," the smile a siren's call to her heart. "Yeah," she forced herself to focus on the hand in hers. "Robbie and I were actually about to head out in a moment. Dinner reservations. Battle, this is Robbie, Robbie, this is Battle. An old friend." The history that she and Battle shared would be something she would discuss with Robbie later. Not here with so many people around.

@4fter-hours plot: sam and battle end up at the same party and he realizes she has moved on with someone new

it was shaping up to be a normal evening for battle. already a little high, he wanders through the townhome, greeting a few friends, eyes always on the lookout for someone in particular. he hadn't completely fucked up the last time they were together - well in his terms at least which was an incredibly low bar. so far she didn't seem to be around, but with some careful questioning he caught wind that she was planning on attending.

running a hand through his hair, making sure to put his best foot forward battle turns into a room only to be stopped in his tracks. across the room there she was, smiling, with another on her arm. it's not like battle shouldn't have expected this, sam was a catch. he just never prepared for it, always holding out she would come back. it still caught him off guard and the next thing he knew he was standing in front of the couple. "shit, hey sam." he shakes himself out of his haze and offers a small smile. "uh, didn't know you were coming out tonight." as if he hadn't been waiting for her the entire evening.
