@stiffrustedobstructionist as the Iowan mutual you didn't know you had I have to inform you that "What Cheer," the town in Iowa, is a strange name specifically bc of the way it is pronounced (like "watcheer," sorta, but go light on the t. I can't explain it but I was very surprised when I learned how it's spelled, so. just know).

Not that you need to know this, but we also have a town called Buena Vista, but if you want to pronounce it and know anything related to pronouncing Spanish words, you should forget the Spanish. It's Byuuna Vihsta (yes this makes my five drops of Hispanic blood boil, yes this is why I didn't even consider going to Buena Vista University)

We also have a town called Nevada, but pronounced the wrong way. You know what I mean.

So yeah, maybe we're Shakespearean, but mostly we just historically suck at pronouncing things.

in reference to my five drops of mexican blood: shoutout to my grandpa for being a second generation immigrant from Denmark to Mexico and then a first generation immigrant to the US but also still fully white the whole time and then not passing on any cultural stuff except yellow cereal and his enchilada recipe ig?? somehow both my dad and i speak spanish but it doesn't have anything to do with him unfortunately anyways this is all to say that i do have mexican heritage and i acknowledge that but i also do not regularly claim the title of hispanic which is why i said i have 5 drops of hispanic blood thus i conclude my cultural sensitivity acknowledgement. or whatever i should call this idk Iowa heck i just realized i wrote mexican instead of hispanic in the first tag I'm not changin that oops
