A new life (a Nedna fanfic)

The first time Edna was called mom

One night in Springfield a family of four were sitting in their living room.

They were Ned Flanders, an eleven year old boy named Rod Flanders, a nine year old boy named Todd Flanders as well as the boys stepmother Edna Krabbapel.

The small family were enjoying their movie night.

It was a new thing Edna had suggested they try out and now it had become a family tradition for them to spend a Saturday night watching a movie (usually a kids movie or Christian movie) before heading to bed.

Ned and Edna sat next to each other on the couch, Rod sat on his father's side and Todd sat on Edna's knees.

Edna was more than thrilled with this arrangement, not having been a mother herself she wanted to be with her stepsons as much as she could, but it had taken time for the two boys to trust her.

So the fact that Todd was willing to Calmly sit on her knees, sipping his cocoa (the family all had a cup each and Edna absolutely loves it) and watch the movie intently and Todd just leaning into her slightly as though he was hugging her meant a huge amount to her.

She'd quickly gotten attached to both boys and she felt the feeling was mutual.

Todd had been the quickiest to trust her and Rod hadn't been very far behind her.

Edna had also realised, even though they weren't her sons by blood, she'd love them all of her life and was willing to do anything to be a worthy mother for her boys.

She was suddenly broken out of her thoughts by the sound of a tiny yawn as well as the feeling of something soft tickling her nose.

She looked and saw a sleepy Todd leaning into her chest, his (thankfully empty) mug of swaying slightly in his hands, Edna quickly put it aside before he accidentally dropped it and it broke.

"Looks like this little guy is sleepy." Edna chuckled.

"Am not." Todd mumbled rebelliously before yawning again.

Ned chuckled and picked up the mugs.

"Edna honey, could you please do me a favour and put the boys to bed." Ned asked.

"Okay Neddy, come on you two it's time for bed." Edna said.

Both boys groaned but got up, Edna holding Todd's hand to stop the practically dead on his feet boy from stumbling.

"Night boys, I hope you have sweet dreams." Ned said kissing both boys on the forehead.

"Night daddy." Rod and Todd said yawning afterwards.

Edna then took the pair upstairs.

While Todd went to the bathroom Edna took Rod into his room.

Edna and Ned had recently made a small extension to the room and split it into two separate rooms, Rod kept the original room while Todd got the new room.

Rod climbed into his bed and Edna tucked him in making sure he was comfortable.

"You ready to sleep now Rod?" Edna asked.

"Yes, goodnight Edna." Rod replied nodding.

"Goodnight Rod." Edna replied kissing her elder stepson on the forehead before leaving the room and closing the door behind her.

A minute Todd came over after finishing up in the bathroom.

"Okay Todd, let's go to bed now." Edna said.

Todd nodded and Edna led him into his new red bedroom.

Todd climbed into bed and Edna tucked him in as well.

Todd snuggled up to his stuffed bear closing his eyes.

"Goodnight Todd." Edna said.

"Goodnight mom." Todd mumbled in reply.

Edna stared shocked not expecting that reply.

She felt a warm and somewhat unfamiliar feeling spreading through her heart, warming her entire body with both love and joy as well as a new feeling she wasn't really familiar with.

She assumed it was some kind of mortherly joy and she was more than willing to keep it.

"Goodnight Toddy." Edna said again kissing the sleeping Todd on the cheek, she turned his nightlight on (Todd is scared of the dark) and left the room closing the door behind her.

"I'm a mom." Edna whispered ecstatically to herself before heading to her's and Ned's bedroom.

Bart sees Ralph's message on Clancy's phone and sees that Ralph has become a new friend to Martin, Milhouse, Rod, Todd, and Nelson.

"Finally something" "Finally news" "About how the story ends" "He doesn't exist now" "Survived by his son" "And all of his brand new friends"
