Everyone’s talking about The Big Twist tonight’s episode had and I’m just like “Wow the Boiling Isle village in the past look so bright and clean and chipper and modern Bonesborough looks grimy, shoddy and nasty. Belos has actively ruined the island beyond just trying to eradicate wild magic. Every single thing is worse because of him and he is still praised as a savior.”
Also credit to the artists on the crew with Dells tremor. They did their research. My tremor also tends to dissipate when holding my cane/crutch (which hey more evidence).

While we’re all emotionally compromised, I just want to mention what a good parent Camila is.
It is immensely difficult, while grieving a loved one, to do anything. It’s immensely difficult for a lot of people, after their partners die, to make the transition to single parent in a way that is healthy.
Camila has not only dealt with the huge grief of losing her partner, but set up rituals that allow Luz to remember her father, structured ways in which they can spend time together and appreciate his memory while supporting each other. Traditions and structure are so important for kids in the wake of such immense loss; Camila is so supportive and thoughtful.
Camila is just. Such an amazing parent.
Even in this tiny shot. There’s no words but we can extrapolate - Vee is learning to cook with her supervision. Camila has set up a flower for both her lost family members and is turned away, so Vee won’t see how sad she is.
I don’t have words, Camila is just. Such a good mom. I am never gonna emotionally recover from this episode.
I just want to come back to this with the context that Luz had already lost her dad and was (from her POV in the moment) potentially watching a parental figure basically “die” in front of her.
And when king asks where she is, the look of realization in her eyes feels not only like she’s processing what just happened but that she’s seen this before. She’s been that kid before and now she has to tell him that his mom is gone.
“Eda stop! You’ll run out of magic!”
Luz cares more about Eda’s curse than she does the fact she’s falling to her death. Which makes the ending even more painful

And sees his bloody eyes in the reflection of his knife.
And he harvested all of his brother’s bones, so he could get another chance with him… Only to enjoy killing him over and over again. As he had the first time…
Bro, this poor kid is so obviously physically abused.
He literally would’ve gotten cut here if he didn’t move his head to the side. And even then, it still barely cut a bit of his hair.
From this scene I have a feeling that Hunter has dealt with Belos’s cursed form head on before, from the way he looks away as if afraid.
Or how here he just tenses up and closes his eyes, expecting to get hit, as if getting hit is a normal punishment for him.
Look at the way he flinches and tenses up, when all Belos did was snatch the key. It’s like he was expecting Belos to hurt him.
The way he flinches when Belos flicks his hair. Like he expects a hit.
And then there are things Hunter says that tells us he is abused.
“The emperor is not a merciful man” probably saying that out of experience.
“Come back with results, or else…” he probably would get hit if he didn’t come back with results
“I can’t go back empty handed… not again” he will get hurt if he comes back empty handed (like he almost did)
As someone who has been physically abused, a lot of Hunters mannerisms (like the way he flinches, closes his eyes, and tenses up when near that person (or even other people), even if they aren’t doing anything real threatening) reminds me a lot of myself. I fully believe he is physically abused, and if it’s revealed that he isn’t I will be genuinely shocked, because all of his mannerisms add up.
