A wild fae finds you in the white covered forest. You'd lost your way thanks to a snowstorm, your sense of direction gone when the fresh snowfall hid your footprints that showed which way you had come. He didn't seem affected by the cold, and he certainly wasn't dressed for it. Surprised to find a human out in the dead of winter, he is fascinated by you, approaching with a warm smile and bright eyes that somehow brings a little warmth to your cheeks.

Shivering and stammering with the cold that has settled deep into your bones, you ask if he knows somewhere you might find shelter in hopes that he might allow you to warm yourself and give you a bite to eat at his home. To your pleasure, he smiles even wider and offers you his hand.

His hand is blissfully warm compared to your own body and the atmosphere, and you wonder if he has warm blood to withstand the temperature. You're too focused on the heat he supplies to notice that you haven't walked very far or that you've been led to sit on a fallen tree log with no sign of shelter in sight. The fae dangles a berry in front of you, and your eyes light up as if you've just been presented with gold.

The fruit is nothing substantial and certainly won't do anything to remedy your half-frozen state, but your stomach is painfully empty. Grabbing the offering eagerly, you swallow it down gratefully. It looks like a fruit you've seen before, only it tastes much sweeter in comparison to the one you know; the flavour bursts on your tongue with just one bite, exciting you and seemingly pulling you out of your exhausted state. Immediately, you crave more and to your luck, there is another right before your eyes before you can even process the thought. You pop it in your mouth whole this time, sighing softly as your teeth crush the juice from the berry and your taste buds tingle. This time, the same fruit you tasted moments ago is sweetly sour, a delicious bitter tang dancing around your mouth.

You turn to see the dark-haired boy fondly watching you chew, his bright smile raising his cheeks around his eyes. You don't seem to notice that you hardly feel the bone chilling effects of the winter scene around you anymore, or the now violent trembling in your arm and hand as you reach to accept another of the pretty fruits from his palm. Nor do you seem to realise that the way this wild fae watches you with affection is akin to the way people admire their pets.

This fae boy lives in the forest of eternal winter that you willingly walked into. It's his home. And now, it's yours too. You stay with him and eat, never noticing the way your body is slowly succumbing to the harsh temperature, seeing only the beautiful boy—the sole source of warmth in this place. It's not cruelty, though the fae are known to be mischievous tricksters. He just wants you to stay with him. Being the first human he has ever seen, how could he know that the climate of his freezing forest could be dangerous to you?

Though he may be the oldest of the small kin living here, he is the most naive—young at heart, always distracted by the wonders of the forest, never catching sight of the bones of men perished amongst the snow as his more knowledgeable brothers did. Perhaps one of them will find you just in time?
