Homonym Help

Sometimes, I just really REALLY want to be a grammar beta... ‘cause some of these just throw me right out of a story...

TAUGHT > past tense of teach vs TAUT> pulled tight / tensed / concise

DAWN > the sun rises vs DON > to put something on

PAST > as in, occurred in a time other than the Present or Future vs PASSED > moved by / beyond, handed off

RITE > a ritual / religious / social act vs RIGHT > opposite of left | morally good | to the furthest degree (aka, right off the track) | legal, social, or ethical entitlement | normal position vs WRITE > that thing writers do

THEN > what happens next vs THAN > comparison of two things

FURTHER > methaphorical distance vs FARTHER > physical distance (I had to go farther down the block to further my quest for information)
