VDS Week -> Day 7: AU
Royalty AU
When Lucas is brought in front of the Queen for his ‘crimes’, he knows it isn’t a trial, but a sentencing. No matter his youth, his strength, his work, he knows the Queen is rarely one for leniency, and Lucas isn’t exactly a valued member of the Court. In fact, he’d be surprised if a single person, servant or knight or monarch, currently watching on, had even known he existed before now. He’s more or less accepted his fate—death is probably the better option for him, anyway.
What he doesn’t expect is for the only person capable of swaying the Queen—her son, Prince Jens—to speak up and save him by offering a lighter punishment. To prove he’s worthy of forgiveness, he only has to prove he’s a loyal member of the Court; capable of serving the crown.
Or more specifically, Prince Jens himself.
Lucas bets he wouldn’t have saved him, and put himself in Lucas’s ‘more then capable hands’, if he was aware of the crime he’s being punished for. Lucas hates that he feels relieved—honored—that the Prince of all people had apparently seen something in him worth saving. That Jens had looked him at all.
He also kind of resents him for it.
