megamind..... does not have a redemption arc, guys. he can't ever have a redemption arc because he was never actually a villain. like. um. isn't the whole point of the movie kind of that he was a victim of society??? like he wasn't ever bad. he arrived on earth in a very unfortunate situation, did not fit beauty standards, and when he tried to be good, everyone told him he was bad. he literally says that was his reason for "being bad"- because that's the "only thing he's good at."

but like. he's not actually good at being bad. if he were actually bad, he wouldn't have "turned good" so easily. he wanted to be good, it's just that he thought he couldn't because everyone told him so. like doesn't the warden actually literally say that. the whole time, he is so obsessed with aesthetics. like ok, maybe he's also just a stylish dude, but all his villainous deeds are super unoriginal. yeah idk I've run out of words and can no longer articulate but I think he's just trying to be what his idea of evil is, when someone who was actually evil wouldn't have to do that, so he can't turn good because he was never bad
