Hello! Started reading the comic last year and fell in love with it. I wanna ask, would/did you ever post about your process when drawing and coloring the comic? Stuff like, do you draw on paper and then scan it, or is it all digital, the programs you use, etc
Hey, man! I seldom have much of use to say about my process - it’s boringly straightforward. I do everything in Photoshop CS2 with an old Intuos2 tablet. Digital from start to finish. You chose a good time to ask though. This last page I finished doesn’t have anything spoilery on it, so I saved out the stages for you - usually I delete them as I go.
But yeah, I start with a sketch, then the drawing, then the inks, then flats, then render. No much changed from stage to stage with this one… Looks like I did change to a front shot of Matty in the third panel so it would flow better with the panels before and after. I wound up drawing that in another document so I’d have more room also for the Horror Shot in the background
Oh, and I added that close-up of Sara as an eighth panel for lulz.
There’s a bit more process when there’s a complicated background. Often I’ll build a set in Sketchup and save out shots from that to keep it consistent.
There are a lot of new extras in this scene but there was a crowd shot a few pages back where I drew all of them, so I referenced that in lieu of model sheets, which are time consuming to make. We all want to put out the best possible product but comics are a battle between quality and timeliness, and I err on the side of the latter, usually :)

If you haven't already, go read Unsounded, it's literally one of the best webcomics out there, updating extremely reliably with lots and lots of lore and heaps of fascinating characters!
Since Lemuel is dramatic as hell, I pictured him in a Shakespearean play. It was a lot of fun to research Elizabethan era clothing!
