this is a callout post @ the person reading this. yes, how dare you be so cute? so lovely? so wonderful? i can't deal!!!!!!
if you're a student at all, please take care of yourself. you don't need to compete with your classmates for who slept the least or who drank the most coffee. eat breakfast and go to sleep a little earlier. lay off studying for a night and do something nice for yourself. your body and brain will thank you.
i wish issues with daily hygiene due to mental illness were talked about more. i feel like it’s the elephant in the room when it comes to symptoms of debilitating disorders.
so i’m proud of everyone who brushed their teeth, washed their face, showered, and/or put on fresh underwear today. and it’s ok if you haven’t done all or any of those (i know i’ve only done the first two); i’m still so proud of you for managing and surviving another day. keep going you’re doin good.

“i matter” is for your brain to read those words and apply it to yourself. stay safe, friends.
When I say “I love you”, I don’t just mean “I love being around you”, “I love the way you talk to me”, “I love your good traits”, “I love the things you make”. I mean I love every single part of you, both good and bad. I love the highs and lows of you. I love your humanity, I love every inch of you from perfection to flaw. I love you as a part of my beloved Earth. When I say “I love you”, I really mean to say, “all of you is welcome in me”.
I really don’t like how society demonizes crying. You’re seen as weak or manipulative if you shed any tears at all about anything. People look down upon you if you cry, or think you’re “faking for attention.” Even in the media, a character learning not to cry is considered good character development, and a character who does frequently cry is portrayed as weak or cowardly.
The truth is, crying is one of the healthiest coping mechanisms humans have for stress. It’s been scientifically proven that the chemical composition of emotional tears (compared to basal and irritant tears) purges stress hormones from the body and produces a relaxing effect at a biological level. It’s also nonviolent (more than can be said for the more socially acceptable anger response). Humans evolved to cry for a reason.
If one isn’t allowed to cry (if they would be shamed/abused for it), the stress hormones will build up and cause illness later on. They will have to force themselves to cry because their first instinct will be to repress the tears. They wouldn’t be able to cry in front of people anymore, either.
Go ahead and cry if you need to, for whatever reason. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it.
you got this. sometimes trying your best means taking it slow. you don’t have to wear yourself out everyday. surviving is a success too.
you’re still lovable. you deserve the kind of love you tend to deprive yourself from…you are good enough. love is there if you ever need it. it’s not just a dream.
Today I learned that my husband keeps a notes app on his phone that has a list of all of my favorite things including but not limited to flower, ice cream, and cocktail and I don’t know how I feel about it 😂
nobody talks about how ugly taking care of yourself can be
yes, sometimes it’s taking a warm bath and texting memes to friends and keeping an aesthetically pretty journal.
sometimes it’s crying silently on your couch at 3am, hugging yourself and reminding yourself that you’re a good person.
self care is not always ‘aesthetic’ and cute…and that’s ok. don’t be embarrassed, just do what you need to do.
