So I think sol and dark tail would have been better villains for the broken code. Sols ideas about Starclan and the warrior code line up more with his character than with ashfur and dark tail would be great for a tag team and also we know he can get into the dark forest. So I think it would be like this:
Sol dies some where around the lake and now his spirit is like trapped there and he cant leave. He spends seasons watching the clans struggle and observes like all their problems are like from starclan and stuff. Also skyclan moves in which pisses him off more. So he wants to bring the clans down even more. Then dark tail dies and sol is like I like the cut of ur jib team up? To which dark tail agrees. They figure out that the moon pool is part of the reason starclan can reach the clans so when it freezes over and Brambleclaw gets sick they see their chance to strike. Sol takes over brambles body and is like Starclan hates code breakers and so he makes the clans practice the code to the extreme. Like you cant even talk to other clans outside of like gatherings. While he does this he and dark tail make like accidents or bad stuff happen to push home the fact that the clans are suffering because of Starclan and the code. He also keeps squilf under his paw cause not only is she deputy but Firestars daughter who is respected. So finally solstar is like we need to stop following the code Starclan has abandon us and wont come back and they're like terrible blah blah. So at this point they kill tigerheart and dark tail takes over his body and is like I agree and stuff. And the clans are so desprate at this point a lot of them agree. So sol and dark make their followers like destroy the moon pool before it can finish thawing so that Starclan can return. From there they basically work to break down clan society and turn them all against each other. Like the main 3 have to figure out how to get Starclan back still but also have to try and hold their society together. I think it would have been more interesting than the ashfur nonsense
