I had one silly little idea that I want to share ... When the glaives died they were still sharing part of King´s magic. And as we know many of the glaives betrayed their oath. (Not all of them obviously, but in the end was blamed the Kingsglaive as a whole) Normally would all the souls go to the Etro´s gate and you know, have their eternal life of peace. This wasn´t the case, thought. The souls of the glaives were brought before the old kings and queens of Yore for their judgment. The rulers weren´t merciful to any of them when they said the verdict.

“ Kingsglaive ... you had betrayed our trust and the True King. You sold your allegiance to the enemy of our people. Hear your final verdict: You shall all become the specters army that the True Kings shall command to his fateful day. You shall wait till the Sigil bearer prove themself before Bahamuth and his trial. Only then you will be redeemed, only then you will help the survivors and the True King. Only then will your souls find the peace behind Etro´s gate.”

Which was the verdict for all the glaives, but some of them were adressed directly with special task.

“ Luche Lazarus of clan Lazarus, traitor of glaives. We hereby sentence you to torture of Ifrit´s flame. Until the Sigil bearer calls for your help.”

“Titus Drautos of Cavaugh, traitorous captain of Kingsglaive. You´re not dead neither alive. The starscourge will turn you in the mindless monster, you shall be trapped inside and witness the horrors of your ways. The only mercy will be by True King´s blade, only he will end your suffering.”
