“This is something I never thought I would see. I thought we taught you better than this, Y/n.”
You maintained your composure at hearing your mom over the phone ramble on about the allegations against you. You didn’t want to talk to her, but she had called Jae and Jake and bothered them until you called back. Unfortunately, you did, and you had to or else she wouldn’t have stopped.
“Don’t worry about it,” you breathed out, starting to pace around your room, your bare feet rubbing against your carpet. “I’m handling it.”
“Handling it is when you deal with the issue immediately and you have more job opportunities,” your mom continued with irritation laced in her tone. “Do you have more jobs?” Silence. “Do better. Your father and I are not happy with this.”
“Okay.”
“How are we supposed to pay for that new car your brother has been wanting, huh?” You held in the curses. “You’re supposed to be a good daughter and help us with money. You better fix this issue soon.”
“Okay.”
You didn’t give her a chance to say goodbye before hanging up the phone.
Flopping down on your bed, your gaze maintained on your ceiling with glow in the dark stars littered around. Even though your eyes became blurry with unshed tears, you found solace in the stars awaiting their tragedy; losing its glow and not glowing in the dark anymore.
You rolled your eyes. So poetic.
“Hey.” Jae peeked her head inside your bedroom, having known you were talking with your mom. “You okay?”
You blinked away your tears and nodded, fingers grabbing a hold of a plushie Jake had gifted you for your birthday. You situated yourself on your bed and watched as Jae sat on the corner of it.
“Mom says I need to fix the issue,” you replied, playing with your polished nails, and smiling a bit at seeing your favorite drink held tightly in between Jae’s hands. She passed it to you. “She needs to pay for my brother’s car.”
“Y/n, it’s time to say “no”, babe,” Jae softly said, patting your leg. “Your parents are asking for more but what about you? That money is for you, not them. They can’t just depend on you to pay for their lives.”
“I know.” Her heart clenched at the way you shook with nerves and she felt her heart drop to her stomach at the way you looked so innocent, like a child. You just wanted your parents, but they wanted a daughter who they saw as the epitome of a dollar sign. “But, I feel like I owe it to them for putting me in this position.”
“You worked your way through all of this,” Jae reassured you. “Your parents just helped you look for opportunities, but you passed them all because of your talent.”
You sighed and leaned back against your headboard.
“I’m surprised they haven’t seen the news about my relationship allegations with those 7 idiots.” You snorted, shaking your head while taking a sip of your drink. You hummed under your breath. “Where am I supposed to be with them?”
“You have a to go to their office around 1:30.” Jae passed you her phone to see the message Chan-woo sent her. “They want you to be seen for a bit but, they want you to still be discreet. Again, their relationship is mostly private so they want to be private.”
“Ugh, I don’t want to go,” you whined, flopping back on your back to emphasize your dramatics. “Is Dong-suk coming with?”
Jae nodded at hearing your main bodyguard’s name. “He should be going with you to meet up with the boys own bodyguards. They’ll be coming up with ways to protect you from the media, especially since some of the boys fans love making death threats to people who dare damage their relationship.”
“Oh, God.”
“Your stalker is back, too.” You swore a headache was forming at the information given to you. “I know, but along with the bullying allegations and the dating allegations, everyone is just… wondering what the hell is going on.”
“I’m even wondering what the hell is going on,” you breathed out, taking off the covers covering the lower half of your body. “I guess I’ll get ready.”
“I’ll have your manager in the front by the time you’re done.”
“Jae, you act so much like my assistant,” you commented over your shoulder. “We’ve talked about this.”
“Your assistant slash manager slash best friend,” Jae said with a smile spread on her lips, a leg over the other with her hands resting behind her. She leaned back. “You know I don’t mind.”
“I feel bad already having you fix my mistakes.”
“Don’t.” You heard her stand up from your bed. “I’ll be in your kitchen. Your maid requested I eat something because I look pale.”
You snorted and waved at her, hearing her close the door.
“Now, what should I wear?”
“Oh, my God.”
You watched as workers peaked their heads to take a look at you walking into the elevator. They tried their hardest to walk inside, but some lucky ones made it after your guards stopped some people from walking any further.
The workers tried glancing at you, to take a better look at you, and you couldn’t help but smile at them a little since they looked excited.
“Big fan of your work.”
You bowed your head. “Thank you so much for your support.”
The elevator dinged and they all scurried out to their designated floor before they left you in silence with Dong-suk and his security team.
“I’m guessing that was the reaction they wanted.” You hummed in acknowledgment at your security guard’s voice and looked over his shoulder. “How are you doing with all of this, Miss?”
You sent him a small smile because, after Jae talked to Chan-woo about your guard knowing what was happening, he kept making sure you were okay, and you appreciated that fact more than anything. That’s one of the reasons you saw him more like a father figure compared to your own father. He was a nice man who loved showing off his daughters to you. It was beautiful.
“Just getting through it today,” you replied, a sigh escaping you once you heard the elevator ding.
Dong-suk stuck to your side all the way towards Namjoon’s office and he even made sure there were no type of threats to come your way.
Opening the glass door, you walked inside the office and came in contact with Namjoon, Jungkook, and Jimin. A simultaneous scoff left yours and Jimin’s mouth once your eyes met from across the room.
“What is she doing here?” He asked, making sure you could hear the obvious attitude towards you. “I thought we weren’t supposed to see her until next week.”
“I decided we should see her today,” Namjoon simply said, not looking at Jimin. His gaze was set on the documents in front of him and you. “She should get to know us, don’t you agree?”
“I guess.” The tattooed man shrugged and your eyes met his next. He leaned back against his chair. “I’ve seen your movies.”
“Did you watch them because you like the genre?” You asked, sitting down on the chair Namjoon gestured to before he looked down at his documents, pen in hand. “Or because of my co-workers?”
“Watched it because of you.” You frowned.
“Me?”
“What?” Jungkook snorted, raising his eyebrow. “Is it uncommon for people to look at the movies you star in for you?”
“Yes.” You nodded, a small scoff of disbelief slipping through your mouth at the fact he saw something you’d been in. “I’m just… surprised, though. That’s all.”
“You’re a good actress.” You couldn’t look away from his eyes and he didn’t dare look away either. “I could see why so many people love you.”
“Hmm, thank you.” You curtly bowed your head and he did, too. You immediately took notice of Jimin looking at you but looking away once you looked at him. “It’s an honor, though, so I’m happy you got to see them. Did you like them?”
“I’m a sucker for a good romance movie,” Jungkook answered, a tight-lipped smile spread on his face. “I saw the one where your sister made your husband fall in love with her, you got divorced and you were navigating life as a single mom, and you met someone else. Beautiful movie. Had me crying at the end.”
You snorted. “The end where my character just starts crying out of happiness because she got her ending and her ex-husband didn’t?” He nodded along to your words. “Made me cry, too. The tears weren’t in the script.”
“That movie was so worth that award you got for it.” He could see the slight shock on your face and he cleared his throat, finally looking away. “I was watching the award show.”
“Does it ever get tiring?” Namjoon asked. You turned to look at him and his gaze maintained on the sheets of paper. “The fact your face is stared at by so many people across the world? I heard your movies get seen a lot in the States.”
You gulped and shrugged a bit. “I mean, you get used to it. I’ve been acting since I was about 4 or 5 years old and though it’s nerve wracking, you just eventually get used to the way people are just… staring at you and admire you.”
“We get that,” Namjoon continued. His hand stopped writing. “We’ve been in this business for a while—not as long as you have been—and everyone’s eyes are on us.”
“Yeah, I can tell.” They eyed the way your shoulders slumped. “Just prepare yourself for more. I bet there’s going to be so much more publicity for all of us.”
“Yeah, and you’d like that, huh?” You sighed at hearing Jimin’s voice pipe in. You already knew he was going to start this conversation. “I find it funny just as you’re about to be in this big movie, you get in these allegations, we get some, too, and your boss makes a deal with our publicist. All at the same time. Pretty funny how perfectly timed this all was.”
“Do you think I planned all of this?” A sound of complete annoyance was heard coming out of you. Namjoon sighed. “Oh, yes, Jimin, I planned my bullying allegations just to get a few minutes of fame all while the media and so many people threaten me and wish me dead.”
You stood up and you passed Namjoon your security guard’s card. “My security will meet with yours to come up with a plan.” You glance at Jimin. “It would’ve been today but, I need to go home.”
“My guard will be in contact then.” Namjoon nodded, grabbing the card between his thumb and forefinger.
You stood in front of Jimin. “And at least mine are just allegations.” He clenched his jaw. “From what I saw in the video taken of you, you’re actually a bully and an asshole.”
He rolled his eyes and you walked off, fingers taking a hold of your phone.
Dong-suk opened the door for you. “Miss.”
You thanked him under your breath and walked off towards the elevator already waiting for you
“Publicity my ass,” you murmured in an annoyed tone, shaking your head. “I’m a well known actress and they think I came up with all of this to be with them? To gain publicity for being with them?” Dong-suk and free other two guards stayed quiet as you ranted. “I didn’t even think about them even once.”
“At least one of them likes your work, Miss.”
You smiled up at Dong-suk at his comment and softly patted his shoulder.
“You’re right, Dong-suk. Thank you.”
“But they should have better manners.”
“I totally agree.”
