Actually, the best friends/rivals-to-lovers trope it's all about how stupid a couple (or a group) of people can be. They're barely functional. They love each other. They'll get in trouble and fight and make up at the end of the day. They don't agree in most things but it's ok because no one else can stand them so they stick together.
