Some very rough layouts.
That feeling when you absolutely overdo your thumbnails, but land the moment...
Magic. As secret as the heart's fondest desire. As subtle as the whisper of a serpent.
Some panels (and details) from an older comic that appeared in the first Beyond Anthology thanks to the kindness of creators Taneka Stotts and Sfé Monster who put that wonderous book together back in 2015.
I've been struggling to realize the layouts for these five pages, in terms of pacing and tone. Feeling bogged down with a million side projects. But they seem to work now that I look at them.
Take a look.
Time to get back to these folks. I should have finished this personal project months back, but had to put it down a number of times due to scheduling.
Finished that crowd scene panel. Here it is with detail of sections.
I'm realizing once more why this particular project may be taking me so long...
Eight pages from the finish line on this thing...
Favorite panel from a recent sequence. I've been excited to draw this since I sketched it a year or so back.
Zap. Finished another page...
Part of the reason I want to move away from biographical/non-fiction comics, is that I get to draw weird things like this.
Because that last tiny panel in the row really needed a crowd of 20+ people...
Where we're coming from versus where we're going...
I have no idea how many people are in this crowd, I just drew it. Some details follow as well as the full page for scale.
From some of the last page. I'm ahead of this spot, but much of the imagery in the rest of the panels is a little upsetting when taken out of context- so I offer this instead.
When the crowd turns...
Early stage of a sketch for a project nearing completion...

That feeling when the pieces of your world building finally feel like they're falling into place.
Catching up on the word-a-day calendar... writing preparations are a constant process.
Some new research for a long running project...
