Sanemi Headcanon !

I feel like as a child, given their limited income, he would go about the village finding old scraps of wood and would carve out misshapen animals and sand it down to make little toys for his siblings

He would probably make them for their bdays/holidays too if they were unable to buy anything

After becoming a demon slayer, he still made some now and then when he had free time, just something to remember them by

(spoilers+lil angst ahead!)

When Genya died, he made a lot (and I mean like hundreds, he’s not letting his missing fingers stop him for shit)

At first he would just make them then stuff them in a closet or some other, but then he decided to bring them to a makeshift of Genya’s grave (there is absolutely no way he wouldn’t make a grave for Gen, whether or not the body could be buried)

So now Genya’s grave is adorned with little wooden toys and if anybody else walks by they’ll see the piles growing (since it’s wood, it’ll obviously rot from sitting out there and catching all the mildew, but Sanemi lets it decompose so it could be ‘with him forever’ so to say?). Flowers are probably rare there, tho the Kamaboko Squad is sure to bring some

It took a while for Sanemi to stop making all the toys in his own silly way of grieving (call it an addiction maybe, he had to be distracted by Giyuu, Tengen, etc, bc his hands were covered in splinters and he wasn’t really doing much else)
