You Missed The Point By Idolizing Him - Tumblr Posts

One of my favorite books is A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. It is a fantastic view of youth, choice, good and evil, and the governments role in peoples lives. To me, at least. However, I am well aware of the violence, murder, and assault in the book. Its true horrors are masked by its language use of nadsat. While trying to figure out what is happening, it is already too late to have a reaction. I truly only liked one character in the book- the prison chaplain. All others are part of a totalitarian government, murderers, rapists, or use traumatized children for political gains.

So imagine my surprise when I looked up A Clockwork Orange here on Tumblr and found Alex idolized. I haven't seen the film, but I know that it doesn't show Alex's redemption arc at the end of the book, as it uses the American version that cut the 21st chapter out. So this is the worst of Alex without any type of redemption. And people are... idolizing him? The Internet is a strange place. He raped and murdered one woman in her home, raped two young girls, assaulted a man on the street, murdered an old lady, and that is just off the top of my head. I can't help but wonder if people completely missed the point by only seeing the actor, not the character.
