Stop saying differently abled when you mean disabled.
Stop saying gited burnt out kid when you mean disabled.
Stop saying the c-slur when you mean disabled.
Stop saying 'super power' when you mean disabled.
Stop saying senile when you mean disabled.
Stop saying special needs when you mean needs for someone who is disabled.
Start saying disabled when you mean disabled.
Disability isn't, nor will it ever be, a dirty word. The only reason you think it's dirty is because you walked on it with muddy shoes.
me trying kissing: uh..... Yeah this applies to everything
ok I just wanna say if you see a kink on tumblr or wherever that really turns u on and then you try it irl and it doesnāt make u feel the way you hoped it would THATS OK!! You can let that kink live in fantasy!! There are a lot of things that turn my brain on that I donāt enjoy during actual sex!! Isnāt human sexuality interesting!!
My dear lgbt+ kids.Ā
Is it really your āguilty pleasureā or is it just something traditionally seen as feminine (and you internalized that acting feminine is something to feel guilty about)?Ā
Now this will obviously not ring true for everything (āguilty pleasureā is a phrase people use for a very broad range of things after all) but itās still a good self-reflection exercise - even, and maybe *especially*, if you donāt think it applies to you.Ā
We are often (indirectly) taught that things traditionally seen as masculine are worth more than things traditionally seen as feminine - just think about someone who knows a lot about World War Two and then think about someone who knows a lot about pop music. Both have in-depth knowledge about a specific subjectā¦ but we would often instinctively assume the first one is a highly educated man and the second is a girl who has a silly little hobby. These beliefs are not something weād sign off on consciously, theyāre more āautomaticā thoughts we learned to have.Ā
The good thing about that is that you can also unlearn these thoughts! The trick is to pull them out of that āautomatic reactionā zone and consciously question them.Ā
So, the next time you call something a guilty pleasure - no matter if itās pop music, romantic comedies, an interest in beauty and fashion, keeping up with celebrity news, baking, crafts etc. - ask yourself: is it really something to feel guilty about, or is it just something traditionally seen as feminine?Ā
With all my love,Ā
