I'm a fervent Laurits/Oscar truther but I then start to think about Heimdall and Loki and what happened to them during Ragnarök and I just kinda go a little weak on the knees ngl

No absolutely- dream 100% sounds posh partly cause the media has deemed a posh voice as ‘neutral’ (cause most actors speak rp) and partly cause he’s very clearly enunciated - every word Dream says seems to hold weight and value, something which I think fic writers pic up on and is reflected in the comics with the bold speech of dream. But as we’ve all learnt from Americans everywhere calling their own accent the ‘normal’ one- no one has a default accent lol

Similarly, desires voice 1) has that ambiguously gendered feel, but crucially 2) slithers along very seductively from one word to the next with the elongated ‘s’ and an underlying purr on every word lol - again, it’s similarly well enunciated tho :)

These actors are all so good 😭

Help from british dreamling or hob gadling fans needed:

What can you tell me about Hob's accent?

To me (not a native speaker, but i know my way around english) it sounds "standard modern southern english". But what would you say???

Star Trek Fandoms in 2022 on AO3

It’s January: time to udpate my colourful graphs from last year.

image

2022 showed a 20% increase in the overall Star Trek universe compared with 2021, with nearly 13,000 updated fics in 2022. Despite that increase, 6 fandoms went backwards compared with 2021. Voyager (for the first time since 2015), Discovery and the AOS (Kelvin Timeline) Movies (about 12-15% each) were the main fandoms in regress. The main increases were DS9, Picard and Strange New Worlds.

Star Trek Fandoms In 2022 On AO3

Among the TV shows only, TOS has regained its 2nd place, maybe due to crossovers with Strange New Worlds, while Voyager has declined to 3rd place. DS9 continues its strong growth. Picard and Discovery show their usual ups and downs due to airing dates, while Strange New Worlds is already showing its mettle for a show which only aired for 10 episodes in the middle of the year.

The fragmentation of the ST fandom continues. In 2022, the ST fandom was more or less evenly divided between the AOS movies (Kelvin timeline), the Original Series (TOS) and the three TV shows which followed in the ‘80s and ‘90s: Next Gen, DS9 and Voy. That fragmentation has been going on for some time, following the consistent decline of the AOS Movies. The more recent series: Disco, Picard and SNW now form the largest portion of the fandom at >20% together. Then come the older movies and newer cartoons, <6% altogether. Note: The graphs above exclude crossovers with non-ST fandoms, but include crossovers within the ST universe.
