If I hadn't discovered deleting my search history as a overly-curious child, I would have been institutionalized at the tender age of 11. Whether that is a blessing or a bad omen; we shall fucking see (adult, she/her, and call me whatever makes sense within reason)

#if you're reading this and know how to speed up drawing process of a beginner artist let me in on this valuable knowledge 🙏
@cool-thymus

I think the most important thing is to approach w strong intent! Maybe you're trying to learn the angle of shoulders and hips, and just concentrate on that for a sesion. Or maybe you're trying to find good shapes, etc etc.
figure drawings can look pretty different depending on focus and the length of the pose
proko has a free figure drawing course that's a good place to start, but you can literally do anything with figure drawing. All it is is looking at bodies and drawing them, typically with a timer. I recommend non clothed, especially when starting out!
quickposes, lineofaction, and sketchdaily are online picture timers, but frankly I find their photo banks too small if you do regular figure drawing. Plus, one of the most valuable things out of traditional figure drawing is drawing the same model over and over-- if you can find a local figure drawing group in person I highly recommend! Otherwise, gesdrawparty on youtube is my preference (they have models in underwear, which works pretty well).
The other thing I find most helpful is to study the work of artists you like, preferably professionals. Do copies, analyze, apply it to your own work.
most importantly: do A LOT of figure drawing. As in thousands. Keep on going. It's effective because you fail quickly, often, and keep adjusting as you go.
*pulls up to the fanfic drive-thru window* uh yeah, i’ll take a fake relationship with a side of mutual pining and thinking the other isn’t interested, thanks
im taking media away from some of u guys until you can pass a 6th grade literary analysis test
"having a moral compass means knowing who to tell to kill themselves" <- real thing i just saw someone say unironically
Hey guys... I met my wife through NaNoWriMo, I am as attached to the concept as a person could be, but if we're going to recreate it... I'm begging you to not put it in November. November is possibly the worst month for it if you live in the US. In school? You're probably studying for finals toward the end of that month. Adult? Some part of your family is going to want you to come visit them, which is a whole thing if you have to travel to see them.
We can break free of this. We can have a whole new novel writing month. I'm begging you. Even as someone whose life partner came to me through NaNoWriMo. Do not put this fucking month in November.
