mm. I’ve seen a lot of posts lately bashing Lewis for writing Susan as forgetting about Narnia because “she liked lipstick and dressing up” and I’d like to clarify, which I know many people have done before.
Susan did not forget about Narnia because she discovered makeup and jewelry or anything like that.
She forgot about Narnia because she put so much faith into things of the world that she forgot to put her faith in the things that really mattered. She cared more about being seen by her peers, who might discard her later on without a second thought, than by being seen by Aslan, the only one whose opinion really mattered.
She wanted to grow up so badly she made herself believe Narnia was a child's game, and she forgot.
Not because she enjoyed worldly things, but because she valued them more than Aslan himself.
SPOILER
One of my favorite scenes between Emily and Wendell because like
Even though it’s from her perspective you can’t tell if she’s being serious or just antagonizing him and like I think that’s beautiful lol
