Jay hated the quarantine. He hated all the days he had to stay away from his girlfriend and all the times he had to cancel his plans due to COVID-19 restrictions. What he hated the most about this whole thing was the fact that it didn’t come to and end by the time your birthday came around.

Despite being a talkative person, Jay showed his love through his actions, not by his words. He wanted to do something special for your birthday in hopes of pandemic being over by the time your birthday comes, but it didn’t. He wanted to close your favorite restaurant or maybe take you to a fancy rooftop bar where you could watch the city and eat good food. Since the city was in a lockdown, his plans were ruined. He had to come up with another plan, so he did.

A week prior to your birthday, he asked his mother to teach him how to cook your favorite meal. His mother was very emotional seeing her son care so much about his significant other. He had to deal with his mother’s emotional breakdown for about 10 minutes before getting down to business. After 2 hours of hard work and his mother’s scolds, he perfected the recipe.

His parents were visiting his grandparents on the day of your birthday: coincidence? I don’t think so. He set the table ready for two, cooked everything -including the desserts- and got ready before you arrived in front of his doorstep.

He texted you telling you to get ready for some “fancy outdoor stuff”. Though you were confused since everywhere was still closed, you still put one of your silk dresses and high heels on before showing up at his door.

You were staring down at your shoes when Jay opened the door, causing you to look up. He looked so handsome in his dress shirt, his hair done perfectly. You smiled at your pretty boy before he let you in.

“Welcome my lady” he said cheekily before taking your coat, and offering you some hand sanitizer. You giggled after he reached for your sanitized hand and lift it up to his lips to leave a kiss on it.

“Hi baby” you greeted him, tiptoeing to connect your lips with his. He smiled into the kiss before pulling away to hold your hand. He dragged you to the living room where he replaced the couches with a table for two. The room was filled with little candles here and there, just like how your favorite restaurant looked before when you visited there with Jay before the closures started.

Your surprised face made Jay so proud of the work he has done in the living room. He put his hands on your waist to pull you closer to his side as you stand in the doorway of the living room.

“Did you do all of this?” you questioned, holding yourself from getting too emotional at the sweet gesture. He nodded and caressed your hair before pulling you closer for a longer kiss this time. He cupped your face when he pulled away to whisper “Happy Birthday love” on your lips.

We celebrated our Jay’s birthday yesterday with my Engene friends! 🥺❤️🥰
