So Apparently This Isn't Just Me
So apparently this isn't just me
Googling a word as a writer that you've always assumed has one meaning is so stupid because, on one hand, why doubt yourself? You used that word before, it's a normal word, and it will mean what you think it meant. You're just wasting time that you could use for actually writing.
But on the other hand, what if you find out that it's not what you always thought it is? What now? Now you question your whole existence, and there is no time left for writing anymore.

Day 27: Nothing
She knew that it wasn’t real, that none of it was real, because it smelt like nothing. She had thought after the fields, after the camps, that anything would smell better, and it would, but there was nothing.
The hair on the back of her neck rose as she heard a sound by the door, and every muscle tensed, her animal brain screaming of the wrongness of this place. It she was lucky; it was all a dream.
Then again, she had never been lucky.
Day 22: Sulphur
Her first thought was the drive-in, the smell of sulphur taking her back to canteen at the Mustang, but that was twenty years ago, and this demon wasn’t on screen.
She had gone down hard running from it, knocked out, and she hoped that the others had gotten away. She couldn’t win, couldn’t outrun it, but she could slow it down, maybe enough that Claudia would live.
She pulled the holy water squirt gun from her pocket and stood up.
She had work to do.
Day 24: Smoke
She could smell the smoke soon after they lit the fire, it’s acrid scent overwhelming in the small space. She held her breath at first, then tried to breath normally thought the wet cloth, but eventually her lungs did their job and she started to cough.
It was only a second before she stopped herself, but it was too late, she had given her position away. She pulled the cloth from her face at once. Better the smoke inhalation take her before they did, it would be a far kinder death.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Look buddy, i’m just trying to make it to Friday.
Day 29: Full Moon
She ran through the forest barefoot, the feel of the trail underfoot the only sign that she was on the right path. The canopy was dense, blocking out the light of the full moon, but she knew it was there. It was why she was running, instead of waiting out the night in a nearby cave.
There were werewolves out tonight, and if she wasn’t careful, she would become on of them too. If they didn’t kill her that was.
The sound of a snapping branch nearby told her she wouldn’t make it home.
