The vast VAST majority of people posting on ao3 are all hobby writers, we don’t have to be perfect. And we’re writing fanfic (insert “it’s all cringe get in the car” meme). But cringe is just the last thing to suggest people can’t enjoy things that make them happy and harm no one and I hate it. And if you tell me it is awful, I will believe you and not open it.
Don’t, please, just don’t. Don’t put yourself down in the tags, summary, or notes. And don’t put your readers down because if you say it is bad and cringe and it is something they enjoy, you are making others doubt themselves.
The world fucks us over enough, we don’t need to do that to ourselves and each other in something that provides joy and relief.
