also i need people to understand that when i argue for caroline not being deleted i don't mean "glados is a robot and caroline is some kinda alter ego that holds her humanity and therefore her goodness" like NO glados is caroline and caroline is glados. they are one and the same, inseparable. humanity is not portrayed as fundamentally good in portal, in fact quite the opposite (cave johnson's a piece of shit hooray). caroline, while still fully human, was perfectly okay with testing on orphans and the homeless. she has always sucked morally speaking!

what i mean when i say "glados did not, cannot delete caroline" is that she seems to idolize the purity of unthinking machines, of perfect and unbiased programming - but that is not achievable. she might spend the rest of eternity disgusted by and afraid of her own humanity but that does not change the fact she is human, with all the horrors that entails. even if caroline was just a file she could delete, glados has already experienced too much and connected to too many people to be full computer

and yes, also, ellen mclain herself has said she doesn't believe caroline's deleted, and if you think about it logically caroline is the base for glados' consciousness so she kind of can't delete that cause it'd be like trying to destroy the foundation of a building without making the whole thing collapse - but mainly the "human does not equal good" part

Let’s talk about Episode 1 for a moment. Like, I don’t get how people write Alyx off as the typical love interest for the hero who doesn’t contribute anything to the overall story. The scene in the stalker car, and then the elevator scene… they hit hard. She shows raw, pure emotion and a vulnerability that gives me pause on every playthrough. She is an extremely well-developed character, dammit, and I’m sick of people degrading her and writing her off as some kind of useless accessory to Gordon. 💔

If you don’t like Freemance it’s totally fine, but Alyx is an amazing character with so much development as the series goes on. I truly don’t understand the petty hate she gets sometimes.
