love?? you must be mistaken. these two are in a rivalry?? where did you get the idea of romance aha. anyway, to answer your question- 

violetta gets a very stubborn and competitive look on her face when someone (usually aster) challenges her. (aster almost gets this... warm feeling in her chest when she sees it? but it must be just because it’s. fun to be in a rivalry, right?) that look means that violetta is very determined about something, and that she’s willing to work hard (or even fight) to win.  

when violetta says something that draws a genuine laugh or smile out of aster, she gets very proud. (happy? no way. just feelings of pride here.) because, after all, that means that violetta is one of the only people able to get a real reaction from aster, and isn’t that a triumph in itself? (it has nothing to do with how violetta’s heart leaps at the way aster lets down her guard and trusts her with a moment of happiness.)

Okay okay okay okay. I promise I wasnt ignoring this, I was actually super excited and so happy to see this in my inbox, it made my night 🥺

But I took so long because this is a HUGE plot point for their relationship. They both have huge secrets they keep because they are scared of how the other will react and OH BOY it's a big moment, so *cracks knuckles* time to explain

7. Matt tells Shaun a secret. what is it and why and how do they react? (I added that part for myself lol)

I may be cheating a little. Matt doesn't so much as tell Shaun a secret as he does have it hopelessly wrenched out of him when an old faction mate of his reveals to everyone Matt cares about that he used to be a Knave- meaning he used to be on the other side of this underground war the team has been so desperate to stop.

Shaun does not take this well. Questioning their relationship and everything he thought he knew about his closest friend and, more recently, his partner.

Shaun lays into him, not letting him get a word in as he pelts him with question after question.

Why didn't you tell us? Are you a spy? Do you not trust us? What the hell were you thinking? Why didn't you tell me?

The answer explodes like a volcano from Matt's mouth

"Because I love you! And I- I couldn't bear the thought of telling you.... That I used to be.... One of them."

Silence falls like a rock.

Silence shatters like ice.

"I love you, too," Shaun whispers.
