I gotta say, so much queer intra-community horseshit dropped off my shoulders when I decided to adopt a firm policy that everyone is the expert in their own identity, the single most knowledgeable person about what it's like to live life in their own skin, and that if someone describes their experience in ways I find contradictory or paradoxical I should do them the courtesy of presuming that they are striving to express something very specific and nuanced, rather than leaping to the conclusion that they're just dumb and using words wrong.

Sure, there are some combinations of identity terms that I look at and go "hmm, I don't get how that works." I'm still a human being. But there's a big difference between not getting how something works versus insisting that it doesn't.

A Call for More Stories

Either my dash is broken, dead, or all of my faves are busy with Life Things. So, I am once again begging writeblr to replenish my dash with stories.

• enemies to lovers— bonus points for slow burn, angst, and pining

• “found family” cast of characters— bonus points if it includes queer, disabled, chronically ill, poc characters

• complex or strained family dynamics

• Powerful dynasties, especially magical ones

• arranged marriages or a begrudging alliance that leads to romance

• magic schools — especially with a dark academia or whimsical twist

• magical groups and cultures (witches, vampires, fairies, selkies, etc) — even ones you’ve created yourself are cool with me!

• worldbuilding— I love worldbuilding posts So Much

Some topics I’d prefer to avoid

• Tech-heavy worldbuilding— mostly because I don’t have the brain power to comprehend it

• Super detailed gore — mild body horror is fine

• War-heavy plots wherein there would be many long, detailed battle scenes

• Animal deaths mentioned on page

• A casf of characters that is predominantly straight, male, white, and able-bodied
