Having Tested A Few Of My Chainmail Pieces To Failure, I Can Attest That In The Long Run, The Failure
Having tested a few of my chainmail pieces to failure, I can attest that in the long run, the failure mode is the stainless steel rings eroding through the aluminum scales. Not rings getting pulled open. This takes 5+ years of daily wear for jewelry, and primarily appears at the point of greatest strain and movement, being the connection between the last scale and the adjustment chain.
For my larger chainmail projects, I once had the pleasure of repairing a tail that the client had apparently worn daily for over a year. Seeing which scales had worn through allowed me to specifically reinforce those points of failure, to even further extend the lives of my future tails.
Just finished up this big matching set of a scale necklace, 2 pairs of earrings, and 2 bracelets.
All made with anodized aluminum scales and stainless steel rings. Available over on my Etsy shop, I can do custom patterns like this with basically any of my designs.

Someone ordered 4 dozen of my leather fortune cookies. It used up my whole scrap pile! I like how you can see the range of shades the leather can be, depending on what hide it’s cut from.
I didn't hear back from this client, but usually orders this large are for wedding party favors. If you'd like a pile for your own mysterious reasons, you can find them on my Etsy here, or single ones here.
Just shipped out this pride bracelet! The black rings are rubber, so it stretches onto your hand.
You can get your own here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/76894590/rainbow-and-black-japanese-bracelet-thin
It'd also be fun to make this design with other pride flag colors, so hit up that personalization option if that's your jam! The black can get swapped for other colors too!
Do you sell your dragon tails that I saw over on Deviantart?
I still make them on commission basis, but can only do so during periods of time when I've got few other obligations (and am not working on another new large design at the same time).
I had intended to take a batch of orders during August, but my day job turned out to not have as quiet a patch as I'd anticipated, and some family stuff came up that also got in the way. This month crafting is taking a back seat to a LARP writing project. I'm still itching to work on big chainmail stuff again, so I'm hoping that I'll be able to make a batch sometime during the fall, but I can't say exactly when that will be.
tl;dr Yes, but life has been hectic.
Golden Curse mask.
I made this mask I think about 2 years ago (here), but was unhappy with the eyes, so I opened them up and reshaped them recently. The mask was sculpted directly onto a form (testing out that process, which is different than my typical), which let me get more intense curvature and shaping into the leather than normal. I made it out of some remnant pieces of leather with some funky shapes and textures, and joined them together on the irregular seam line that came out of it.
I enjoyed experimenting with this technique, and there’s some really cool stuff that can be made with it, but honestly I can’t really pursue it. Exploring it further would require sculpting a bunch of solid formworks to shape the masks onto, and I don’t have space in my workshop/bedroom for that. But there may be occasional projects where I use the technique.
This one-of-a-kind horror is still available on my Etsy!
My Lucario outfit!
We need to have Halloween every 3 months so I can wear shit around town more often.
I designed this outfit to be clearly furry but distinctly not a fursuit. It's a genre of costume that I want to see more of.
Component parts are: the pup hood style mask, furry vest, harness with the chest spike, arm warmers with the hand spikes, spiked arm bands, Thai fisherman pants for extra baggy, and tail. I don't do a lot of sewing, and I don't plan to aim for selling sewn crafts, but it's fun to pick up new skills.
