Fortune Cookie - Tumblr Posts
Last night I went to a Chinese restaurant for a cast party and my friend got a fortune cookie that said: “Believe it. Water and oil never is mix.”
Like, just, believe it.

I just got a fortune cookie without a fortune inside. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. I feel so betrayed. I thought Fridays were supposed to be a good thing...
please please please PLEASE i have three beautiful and elaborate stories i need to write help me out please
Reblog the writers’ fortune cookie for luck!
I got three fortune’s in my cookie (ignore the fact that I accidentally almost ate the third)
These leather fortune cookies are unreasonably entertaining to me. The natural color of the leather, especially, is almost exactly the right tone to match actual fortune cookies.
In the future I will probably work out a template and actually print the fortunes, but for now they're just carefully hand-lettered. Also, I want to come up with different "flavors" of fortune, ranging from sincere to surreal.
As it turns out, leather was not quite my first idea for this. I initially thought of making them out of acrylic plastic. If you heat up acrylic to about 300°F, it softens, and you can shape it. It would end up with a clear (or colored) cookie shape, and you'd just have to be very firm in your conviction to break it open and get the fortune out. I may still do that, but in general I think leather is a more friendly material for this.
Oh, and by the way, this can serve as a menu for all the standard leather stain colors I have. (Though the gold was acrylic paint.)
Leather fortune cookies! A full batch of a dozen, fresh out of the oven! Stuffed with mildly perplexing pieces of paper!
I cut these when I’ve got a scrap of leather left from another project that’s too small to fit anything else on, and I’ll tend to dye them when I’ve got extra dye that I got out but didn’t need all of.
I’ve had them up on my Etsy store as singles for a while, finally put up a listing for a dozen.
How often do you lay awake late at night pondering the deep mysteries of the universe, like "What if fortune cookies were pointy?"
Well, you can rest easy now. I got you.
Here’s a batch of small things that I shipped out this week.
In order, we got: scale bracelets in stainless steel and bronze; a matched set of choker necklace and bracelet in the colors of the asexual pride flag; bronze scale earrings; a bunch of leather fortune cookies; and a leather barrette in the shape of a dragon wing.
My Etsy store is still open for Christmas orders! Anything ordered by December 15th will be shipped out by the 18th. After that, I will be out of town visiting family (as safely as I can without being disowned) until the new year.
Here’s a big batch of leather fortune cookies I made a couple months ago. These were destined for party favors for a kid’s birthday party, so they had some custom fortunes in them that were much less sarcastic than my regular fortunes.
The order coincided with when I got a couple bottles of a new brand of dye to try out (namely blue and purple). So this was a good chance to get some good comparisons between the options.
These are available on my etsy either singly or by the dozen!
Someone ordered 4 dozen of my leather fortune cookies. It used up my whole scrap pile! I like how you can see the range of shades the leather can be, depending on what hide it’s cut from.
I didn't hear back from this client, but usually orders this large are for wedding party favors. If you'd like a pile for your own mysterious reasons, you can find them on my Etsy here, or single ones here.
Help me decide what to stream for my birthday!
This Saturday I'll be doing a big birthday bash stream, and while I have tons of ideas, I only have so many hours in the day to stream them – and only a week to prepare!
Help me out by picking an option from the poll at the bottom: What would you be most interested in seeing this weekend? Read on and I'll explain our options...
All of my ideas loosely fall into three categories – I could play something multiplayer with friends, I could reminisce on old levels and creations I made long ago, or I could stream something that's a completely new and unique experience. Out of those categories, I've got five standout ideas:
New: Fortune Cookie - If you've ever watched ProtonJon stream, you know what this is. I've collected my entire game library on Backloggery and we'll choose 3-5 random games, then chat votes on which one they want to see. I'll play each game for about half an hour before we pick another set of games for another chat vote. Rinse and repeat! 🥠
Reminisce: WarioWare DIY Showcase - "Showcase" is the WiiWare version of DIY... and I've never played it! This would be a hybrid of new and old, where I'd try out all of the microgames I've never played before, as well as importing and showcasing all of my old microgames from DIY on the DS. Did you know DIY is the game that got me into programming? 👩💻
Reminisce: Zeta - At this point I've streamed all of my old Mari0 level packs, except one: Zeta, which was supposed to be the magnum opus of my early Mari0 days. It sits about halfway between New Super Mario World and Retrush in terms of quality, scope, and ideas. Should be a LOT of fun to unpack after ten years~ 🌅
Multiplayer: Tabletop Simulator / Cardé - I made a board game when I was twelve years old that's essentially "extreme chutes and ladders," a race around the board trying to get chain reactions of movement. This would be a hybrid of reminiscing and multiplayer, since I would get to recreate it in Tabletop Simulator... and subject my friends to it! 🎲
Multiplayer: Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed - Transformed is genuinely one of my favorite kart racers of all time, right next to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I've been dying to play it with friends for a while now – it would make for an excellent birthday party game! I'd have to check in on who owns it and wants to play, but otherwise, it'd be the easiest to set up. 🏎️
So with all of that out of the way...
getting everything set up for the Fortune Cookie stream tonight! adding in the last few games in our library just so everything's up for grabs
if you don't know what Fortune Cookie is, every ~30min i pick 5 random games from our library and chat gets to vote on which game i play next
my partner and i have a lot of unique titles in our shared library so i think it'll be a treat 💙
i've been meaning to try this for a while and if it goes well we might make it a monthly thing!
In which we try out a new stream format where chat votes on the games I play, and they IMMEDIATELY go for the meme pulls. I don't blame them, I'd do the same... if I wasn't the one playing it.
I finally received my combat boots...exhaustingly, and cruelty free~ They're 100% Vegan, and I am proud to be stomping into a better life with them on my feet, fully fashioned. Add me an blip from a Fortune Cookie and I'm all set. What a lucky occasion..! I want to embellish my gratitude. ☂️💦💙✨✨

Future
They'd all cracked into the fortune cookie Kagome had in her bag. She'd thrown a fistful into her bag a couple of days ago and passed them out to the growing group.
Her eyes watched everyone, waiting for their questions.
"Hmm," she heard Shippo thinking, "Forgive those that speak before thinking." He turned to a munching Inuyasha, "Sorry you're dumb."
"EH," Inuyasha seethed, "Come here ya runt!"
Kagome sighed, "Your family will grow by leaps and bounds."
Sango blushed madly as Miroku's eyebrows wiggled, "Sango, my love-"
She smacked him and walked away, red as a tomato.
She read her own to herself, 'A future full of love awaits you.' She scoffed a bit, "Right..." She looked at her side, he'd yet to say anything, "What does your's say?"
He turned the small slip of paper away, "Hn, you will know regarding in time." She pouted as he slipped the scrap into his haori and folded his arms, watching the kit run from his idiot of a brother.
She smiled to herself, "I guess I'll have to wait for what the future holds."
Who knows indeed.
