Micro Comic Summer Returns for 2024!
In 2022, Hiveworks introduced Micro Comic Summer, an online comic challenge shared via the #MicroComicSummer tag on varied social media channels.

Micro Comic Summer is one of many online art challenges that bring creators together to complete a project and share their work with their community. Other well-known examples of art challenges include Hourly Comic Day, where artists draw a comic panel for every hour of their day, and Inktober (along with its inspired spin-offs), a daily illustration challenge in October.
Micro Comic Summer focuses on sustainable art practices, story craft, and art exploration, by encouraging creators to take an entire summer to draw a 4-page comic.
The rules of Micro Comic Summer are as follows:
Rule 1- Tell a story in four pages. This rule is possibly the most challenging aspect: to be succinct and efficient with your page count. Some creators have used this challenge as an opportunity to redraw old webcomic pages or introduce new readers to their pre-existing characters and story. What story you tell is completely up to you!
Rule 2 - You have all summer (or winter, for the southern hemisphere) to do it. From June to the end of August, take your time to perfect your paneling, edit your story, and choose your palette thoughtfully. There is no need to make snap decisions or cut corners for this challenge. The timeframe is meant to encourage exploration and growth.
Rule 3 - Share it online. Use the tag #MicroComicSummer to share your work with others on August 31. Contribute to the conversation around comic artist working conditions.
While Hiveworks introduced Micro Comic Summer, anyone is free to participate. Participation in the tag does not mean you’re submitting your work to us, nor does it mean we own it. It’s just a hashtag, for fun.
We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
🌟 Don’t forget to visit the tag to see what artists have created in 2022 and 2023!

@emiimagination and I are creating an Hazbin Hotel Au called Deer Gods Au.
And yeah it is RadioApple themed.
Synopsis:
In a remote Irish village, the population still worships two Cervitaurs, creatures half deer half man. One is blood-red, bringing Death, the other white, granting Life. Hidden in a sanctuary deep in the forest, they protect the village and its inhabitants… until the day the Crusader Knights arrive to bring the Good Word!
Between scheming and plotting, friendship and cruelty, the Deer Gods will have to fight to survive this invasion.
This one is a medieval illumination mock up of what happens in the beginning of the story of the AU. Husk is a huntsman and trapper and must chaperon a young girl with the help of his new apprentice Anthony to the altar in the Entrance of the Deers sanctuary. Husk is from the village and the little girl too but she's too new to their ways still, and Anthony wasn't born in the village and hasn't grown up with its beliefs, that's why he is mocking Husk who explains everything about the Deers and how to properly thank them.
I was inspired by Redwall outros and "previously on" but instead of going with tapestries I wanted to go with medieval illuminations instead because I was also inspired by The Secret of Kells.
The first on the left was my first attempt to draw Sun, way before my head study of him I posted last year. On the right was for a fanfiction called "just like a little mermaid story" which the first chap or prologue was supposed to have come out during mermay of last year. There was nothing interesting just the daycare attendant being the metaphorical little mermaid from Hans Christian Andersen tale. Yup was going with the tragic ending. Drawing parallels with the little mermaid wanting to gain a soul by marrying a human and the DCA wanting to experience the soul living beyond being out of commission with the potential of being remembered by your one true love ect... So decided to take the pose from the little mermaid statue in Copenhagen. Hesitated in ending in a mermaid tail or drawing the feet so ...
